Would Cape May Cafe be worth the trek over from Epcot with two 5 year olds by myself? I would have to go back to Epcot or DTD to get back to our resort as we are staying at Pop.

I can also go to Teppan Edo.

I don't like seafood-I like chicken and steak.

Which one would you pick?

As far as the "trek" it's not really much of a trek. The walk from the international gateway takes about 5 minutes - 10 if you walk slow. My kid's did it easily several times each day from the YC and it's a tiny bit further. From Teppan Edo it's about 20 minutes, but from England or France 10 minutes. Walking back to epcot to get your bus is probably your best option as the buses from BC and YC are a tad bit, umm, annoying.

I'm not sure about the dinner at Cape May as we elected not to do it as we are new englander's and didn't want to be disappointed by a clam bake that bears no resemblence to the real thing. We did eat at Cape May for Breakfast and liked it. Not exciting but typical breakfast foods cooked well.

I found this review of the restaurant really helpful in my decisions: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1980346

Thank you for that restaurant report, it was quite helpful. I was trying to recall from Robo's map that I saw yesterday I think, how far it was from EPCOT.

Now I'm going to see if I can get an ADR. Hopefully, I can get it on the other night that I'm not looking after the other 5 yr old. He's quite a handful and I'm not sure a buffet with him would be fun. I guess I will be trying the buffet with two 5 yr olds, hopefully he will behave better for me when his parents aren't around.

Cape May is great and they do serve Prime Rib and I think there was chicken as well and some pastas but it is mostly seafood/shellfish. Lots of choices for the kiddos though. Teppan Edo does not have as many choices but their food is very good and fun as they cook it right in front of you and the chefs play around with the food - onion ring volcano, that sort of thing.

The walk to Cape May is not as far from the France/UK portion of Epcot as walking out to the main Epcot entrance - it is really close by that end of the park and a fun walk so don't let that be a deciding factor.

Good luck getting your ADR.

I have to say I found the maps to be deceptive. It looks much further on paper than it actually is. In many way's it's like walking from one end of a mall to the other. It can be really daunting when you're tired and weighed down with tons of packages but not bad if you've had a rest or are just trekking along.

Also, it's defnitely faster to walk, but if you are not pressed for time the boat to the YC boat dock or back can be fun. The boat ride itself takes about 20 minutes as the boat stops at BWI first and you have to allow up to 20 minutes for the boat to arrive, but my kids got a kick out of it. The walk to the end of the boat dock to the Cape May is almost the same distance as walking to Epcot so I wouldn't do it if you are looking to save footsteps. This might also be a fun way to end your night.

If you are looking to save footsteps at the end of the night you could take the boat to DHS and then take a bus back to your resort. Again, the walk to the boat dock is about the same as the walk to the International Gateway but then you wouldn't have to trek across the entirety of Epcot to get a bus. The boat to DHS docks to the side of the DHS front gate. Again, about a 20 minute ride as the boat stops at the Swan and Dolphin before it gets to DHS. When you are on the YC dock waiting for the boat there are the binocular/telescope things for the kids to look thru so bring a couple of quarters. This is a good way to keep them busy while they wait for the boat.

Thanks so much for your tips! I think we will walk from Epcot to Cape May and then I'll decide after eating if we want to go back to EPCOT (boat-just for fun) or take the boat to DHS to get to our resort - I'll probably pick this, I hate waiting at EPCOT for a bus (too many smokers near the bus area).

I managed to get a later dinner at 6:55pm, but much earlier than 1900 Park Fare at 7:50pm. As long as there is chicken or beef (not ground) then I'll be happy. I'm rather picky and like my food plain and there is always the kid's buffet.

This was a last minute change as I already had all my ADR's made at 90+10 days. My friend/neighbour is now bringing her nephew so I had to change out 1900 Park Fare on the nephews birthday to WCC. Then I had to change my WCC night Oct 8 to something else. I think Cape May work out better than 1900 Park Fare and we didn't go there last year so it's something new.

Teppen Edo is good food & fun. I would go here. Cape May is a clam bake dinner we don't like so we don't go. We have only done Cape May bk and there bk is good.

We did not care for Teppen Edo at all. In our town, we have about 5 of these teppanyaki-style grills (where they cook in front of you and do fancy things with the knives, etc). Two of them are VERY GOOD, while the others are pretty yummy. Even the least favorite one of ours was 1000 times better than TE in Epcot. We were really looking forward to that one too :( Cape May was good, and the kids liked the character interaction. It wasn't rushed and many of them came around twice. It seems like it was just a short boat ride from there back to Epcot?
