i have heard that the dinner is done in a "clam bake" style. is this true? or is the clam bake a separate event? how is it? is it good?

any thoughts are much appreciated!!

I was at Cape May for dinner in October and thought it was very good. The food isn't fantastic, but it's good for a buffet. The buffet is set up in a square shape. One side has soup and salad, one side has the seafood items (mussels, clams, and shrimp), one side has ribs, chicken, veggies etc., and one side has the kiddie buffet and some breads if I remember correctly. The dessert section is towards the front of the lobby. Most of the reviews I read on this site before going there did not rate Cape May very highly, but I liked it and plan on going back.

We went there for dinner and I really liked it. Of course, I love shrimp and clams so I was in heaven. There was a big variety - something for everyone. We were sufficiently stuffed!

We like dinner much better than breakfast. Breakfast is the same buffet you will find all arud WDW, but the dinner with all its fun seafood, is great fun.

We always enjoy eating at the Cape May Clam Bake. There is so much to choose from that you don't even have to like seafood. Great variety and and "must do" on every trip for us.

are the characters there for dinner too? or are they there for just breakfast?

Thanks!!

No characters for dinner. I also agree with previous posters. I always enjoy the food and selection is good (especially the clams). If you are a king crab leg fan you can opt for an upgrade on the buffet and they bring you a very large plate of crab legs.

We always like to enjoy a cocktail in the Martha's Vineyard lounge next door before having dinner.

what is the price difference in the upgrade?

sounds like something that my brother (who is coming with us) and hubby would really enjoy...

I love it. It's a must-do for us when we're at The World.

Unless you are a big clam eater, I wouldn't recommend it. It was the only place we could get a ressie for short notice a couple weeks ago and we don't eat clams!!! There was very little else that was good. I ended up with a meatless pasta dish and a bread. DH said the chicken was "OK". I should probably have upgraded to the crab, that I like. This was not a keeper for us. We also waited an hour to get seated. It was a VERY busy week-end though and I've never had that happen anywhere else before.

Its our favourite buffet. I am not a big seafood eater and I always find theres more than enough choice for me. My chap adores seafood and just loves it. The seclection is a little less fast food and more dinner type menu.

I could eat my weight in salmon alone LOL

The only reason I have an ADR for Cape May is because of the shrimp. My DH and my boys, love shrimp. I'm not really into seafood.

Is the shrimp good enough to warrant spending that much money. The boys are 6 and 4, so they won't be eating a ton of shrimp. I'm just thinking we could eat at a Red Lobster or something and save money and have more options on how the shrimp is cooked.
