What's this buffet like, did you enjoy it? Is the restaurant nice in the evenings or does it get noisy? Do they do any 'antics' a la Whispering Canyon Cafe or is it just a straightforward seafood buffet?

Also, is it easy to get to? We're staying at POFQ but will probably drive to the Beach Club for dinner.

Thanks

being from New England I say that food is not seafood at all. The shrimp was not deveined and they were the size of a pea, the meat was dry, the veggies were either overcooked or not cook enough......I went that one time and never again. I didn't eat anything so they gave me the meal for kids price, I payed for nothing...eat at the YSH in the YC, good food :sunny: Have a fun trip no matter what you do

It's a straightforward buffet-not all seafood-one side is seafood while the other is more for land-lubbers like DH and myself. It's a great buffet-well at least all the times we've gone. The dessert buffet is amazing too :)

It is a straight buffet with no characters and no antics. However, it is not just seafood, here is a link to a recent menu.

It is easy to get to. When you leave PO turn left, go to the end of the street and turn right onto Buena Vista Drive. After you pass the entrance to Boardwalk stay to the right and the next right will take you past the Swan, Dolphin and Yacht Club to the Beach Club. There is very good signage at WDW.

Cape May Cafe is one of our favorite spots to eat. DH & I like the steamed clams and mussels as well as the shrimp ( we are from central Pennsylvania, so don't get the "real/fresh" stuff like New Englanders). The items on the side of the buffet with the chicken/meat/pasta dishes were very good. I had some of the best beef "tips" I have ever eaten there one night. We like Cape May Cafe Buffet well enough that we added a night at WDW for our "Favorite east coast restaurants Tour" in June just so we could include Cape May Cafe on our itinerary.

The shrimp wasnt deveined? I can not even imagine... I have never had or served shrimp that wasnt. That surprises me.

IMO, it used to be much better. We always stay at the Yacht or Beach Club and this restaurant went from a "must do" to a "do if we have too"....

Have Fun

Our group tried it for the first time in February and loved it. The variety of meats, veggies, sides, etc. was wonderful. Everyone was able to find things they liked. It is now on our list of favorites.

The clam chowder was excellent in January and the rest of the buffet good also. It is worth a try as everyone has different opinions as to what they think is good food.

We tried in Oct. and thought it was the best (better than 1900 park fare) food wise. My in-laws went back in March and loved it so much they cancelled other reservations to do it twice. We booked it for our up coming trip in Aug. Needless to say we like it. :thumbsup2

We went in February and enjoyed it. I don't eat shrimp, but I thought I remember the shrimp to be the peel & eat kind (so the vein is in). DH is the fish lover & he had no complaints. We did have a long wait (even with ADR) to be seated & the place was NOISY - but that's find since my children ages 2 and 5 fit right in :thumbsup2 Overall food was good - I'd go back again, but it is not a "must do"

We were staying at POR & we took the bus to MGM & then the boat to BC - worked out fine for us.
