Cape May buffet?

We LOVE breakfast there! It's so cute seeing the characters in their beach outfits. The food is good too.
Were you asking about dinner, though? We're trying it for the first time this July.

We've ate for dinner and breakfast. I don't think we would do dinner again but breakfast is a must do for our family.

I agree, we really enjoyed breakfast. We ate there the last morning of our trip so it was a fun farewell. In terms of dinner I was a little disappointed. We were staying at BCV so it was very convenient to eat there after a day at the parks, but the dining experience was not as I had hoped. They kept running out of food and not replenishing. There were things I wanted to try but I didn't because by the time they put them out I was done with my meal.

DH and I had dinner there in March and we didn't enjoy it at all. The food was below average, in fact I would even say it was very poor quality. We were so disapointed with it that we didn't even look at the dessert table.
We had a great waitress though, I think her name was Nancy!

We don't like it! We had dinner there (now this was about 3 years ago) and thought the quality of the food was just average, if that. We love seafood, and this just did not do it for us..quality wise. I am not sure if it has improved any since then, but I really haven't read too many good reviews, so I haven't gone back.

:scared1: I have an ADR for a Birthday Celebration here. Guess I will rethink this - especially since 3 out of 5 of us don't/can't eat seafood. That would greatly limit our options and if the half of the food that we can eat is not that good, well we would be very unhappy (and hungry !). Thanks for all of the useful info. !

Cape May was the worst restaurant we ate at last Sept..... chowder was almost inedible it was so salty.. blah choices and the food was gross. I won't be back. :scared1:

We love both bfast and dinner there. We have been numerous times for both and had great food and service.

BLAH! Salty chowder! And we know chowder. :):):);):)
In terms of seafood, can it compare to up here? Yes, I'm a seafood snob.

we also have dinner there in July and breakfast. we have done the breakfast and loved .it.. and since we are staying at BCV we wanted to try the dinner. Being from New England its going to be very hard to match New England Clam Chowder (thick of course).. and I was hoping they would have cod or Haddock.. i dont see it. I think we will try our luck somewhere else..

Wow! All the reviews I read prior to this were really good. And now these are almost all bad!

But, for the person worried about not liking seafood, it didn't seem to me there was much seafood on the list. It seemed like clams/mussels and some peel and eat shrimp? Mostly I saw carved prime rib, ribs, and rotisserie chicken?

I read a review recently with lots of pictures and it looked really good.

NO WAY!
That probably was my problem with the place.
Have you ever eaten at long John silvers?
Thats the best comparison I have to Cape May.:sad2:

Oh dear. That's not a good comparison.

Yes, we New Englanders are seafood snobs. :)

Seafood snobs- will be very disappointed. We always go when we go with my inlaws- they like it a lot as do my kids but personally I can't stand it. The buffet line moves so slowly that you spend half the time waiting on line for food. There are ribs, chicken and some other things for non seafood eaters but i would say it is geared more towards seafood people.

Cape May Cafe is not a "seafood" buffet. It is a pared down "clam bake".
They have steamed mussels, small clams(the kind I like), a fish of the day and small peel and eat shrimp - the shrimp used to be cold, then "hot" now they are back on the cold buffet side again. Yes, they have chicken, ribs, beef and a sausage dish for those who do not like seafood, along with various veggies, salads, potatoes, etc....

My DH loves this restaurant for the clams and the mussels. I would not compare it to Long John Silvers in any way, but that is MHO. I believe the only days they have a battered/deep fried tilapia filet is on Thursdays and Friday. I had a delicious salmon in a lemon/dill cream sauce in September.
This restaurant is one of the ones we visit on most of our trips. We are not from New England, we are from land locked central Pennsylvania, and we are happy with the items included on the buffet.

We have been to Cape May many times and we just love it there, the food is very very good for a buffet.

If you click on my Oct link I have a ton of close up buffet food pics.
