Cape May buffet?

We've ate for dinner and breakfast. I don't think we would do dinner again but breakfast is a must do for our family.

Same with us - Breakfast was great but Dinner was really not my thing there.

Well, I made a reservation based on the photos. Thanks, the fried Tilapia looked good to my dd. We will have to try it and see. I wanted to get another buffet b/c my kids eat better at them. It's hard to get good reservation times now, so I was lucky to get a 6 PM.

We have been to Cape May many times and we just love it there, the food is very very good for a buffet.

If you click on my Oct link I have a ton of close up buffet food pics.

Yes! It was MickeyNicki's pictures I was talking about in my previous post. Those pictures made me want to try!

I'm still trying to find out what fish is on the buffets on Saturdays.

I have come to the conclusion that the dinner buffets are always hit or miss. There are too many foods that are in sauce or pasta that can become soggy and tasteless. We ate at Chef Mickey's in January for dinner and absolutely hated it. Everything on a buffet is prepared WAY in advance and sits and waits it's turn to be refilled.

We love the Cape May mussels and clams, and my DD loves peel and eat shrimp. I have chosen it for my dinner on my birthday in August - it gives the kids choices and let's us eat mussels and clams to our heart's content! There used to be a lobster tank at the Cape May Cafe and you could request freshly steamed lobster as part of the buffet. We occasionally did, but we're not lobster fans. The chef has also made special dishes for us during non-busy times. The good old days!!!;)

Overall, Cape May is our favorite buffet no matter what meal it is. I hope you hit it on a good night!

Thank you. You are exactly right about the hit and miss, we've been to CM for dinner and it was one of our favorite meals! On the other hand, we didn't like Liberty Tree Tavern and many on the boards love it there. At least with buffets, the kids can find several things that they like and the desserts and fruit are usually good.

Loved your review and pics! We are staying at the Beach Club in June and have dinner ressies at the buffet.

We tried Cape May for the first time during our last trip and we loved it!! Even my two teenage sons who are picky eaters really enjoyed it. We have ADR's for June 3rd and we're all looking forward to it!! :thumbsup2

I can't figure out thew comparison to LJS since there is nothing at Cape May that is on the menu at LJS.
We ate the Clam Bake for the first time in Jan and thought the food was great. We were there on Saturday and the fish that night was great-just not sure what kind it was. The ribs were great and the sausage was as good as anything at Biergarten, and I love Biergarten. But leave lots of room for lots of Oreo BonBons. There were incredible.

We ate there in April 2008. I would say the food was average to good. My DH does not eat any seafood and he had plenty of options. Glad we tried it, probably wouldn't go back. However, there are not many restaurants we return to as we like to try lots of new ones.

I love the clam chowder, the shrimp, mussels and clams and the CORNBREAD!!!

DH isn't a seafood eater, except for the peel and eat shrimp, but he enjoys the food there and is always willing to go when I suggest it.

We don't care for the desserts, but we go for the food that we like, and we're very satisfied at the Cape May Cafe.

We love the character breakfast there as well. We have ADR's with the DGC and the whole family there in May, just before we head out for the DCL cruise!!!

Just to some of the other posters - you're ALWAYS going to get differing opinions on any restaurant - period. Don't cancel a meal because a few people on the disboards didn't like it.

On that note, we went to Cape May Cafe last July and really enjoyed it. The evening we went, all the food was fresh, they kept each item refilled so it didn't run out, and we got great service. Maybe we hit it on a really good night? I don't know, but we'd definitely go back again.

And it is NOT like Long John Silver's. PLEASE!
