We have never been to either one of these but wanting to branch out from our usuals.

Both will be for dinner. For those that have eaten at either place, give me your thoughts.

TIA

We haven't eaten there for dinner but we ate at The Plaza for lunch when we went in August. We loved it and made a point to go back 2 days later. It's definitely on our must-do list from now on.

Both used to always be on our must do list. We pay OOP and these both used to be fantastic prices for good food. The last time we were at Cape May was last year sometime. I have to say maybe it was an off night but i thought the quality of the food and the offerings have diminished slightly. We just haven't rushed to go back since then. The plaza is a great light dinner (burgers, sandwiches, ice cream) for a nice break in the MK. The service is on the slower side (which used to be a nice break pre kids, now it is a little too slow for them to sit there and watch the MK go by!). Food has always been consistent and good. If you are on the DDP I might not suggest it because i have heard people say it isn't worth giving up the TS credit for.

We love the Plaza. We ate there last week and everything was good.

We enjoyed CMC, although I agree with the OP that it doesn't seem to be as good as it used to be. It seems like they used to have so much more. However, what we did eat in Nov. was really tasty!

We have always loved Cape May but on the last 2 trips it was just eh, ok. We like to go right when they open but noticed they put the food out 30 minutes before they opened so most of it was cold and dry.

We had dinner at the Plaza once and it was just ok to us...it was a last minute choice because it was pouring rain and they could seat us right away without ressies.

We have eaten at the Plaza many times for lunch, and were never disappointed. The meals are not as heavy as other TS restaurants.

We eat at Cape May on nearly every trip. The buffet has so many options, that it always seems like a great choice to appeal to everyone. We have asked for vegetarian pasta on most trips and the chefs have been happy to provide something very tasty.

We went to Cape May this past trip, and really enjoyed it! it was good food, great selection, ok service, but overall we enjoyed it well enough that we will return!! :)

Hi, Jimmy. Merry Christmas. Tammy doing the marathon this year??

We like the Plaza for the sandwiches and ice cream. Bill likes the Reuben and I like the club. Some people like the German potato salad that they serve with some of the sandwiches, but I prefer the fries. Milk Shakes, soda, sundaes are all very good.

We've only done Cape May for breakfast. Not much on clams. At least steamed clams; I do like fried clams. But the breakfast is very good. They have blintzes that are very good. Other standard items - eggs, pastries, bacon, fruit, etc.

Hi... I have a question about the Plaza. Would you all say the Plaza is a good place for kids? I know that kids are welcome everywhere but is it tight tables, loud and comfortable? We're deciding between Tony's and the Plaza for dinner and didn't know which would be better. I'll have a 4 year old & a 2 year old. I know one of the PP said that her kids were restless there....

I've also heard that CMB has been slipping... never been, and would like to try it someday!

thanks!:goodvibes

Plaza is totally acceptable for kids. I just find that the service is a bit slow (for what it is) and with being able to see out right to the MK my kids want to be outside rather than sitting there waiting for their food. it is small and the tables are tight- but no more than any other restaurant there

I think you will enjoy the Plaza. Great sandwiches and if I remember correctly, the soup was fantastic. The atmosphere is cozy but it is more than ok to bring kids!

We're long time fans of Cape May and made it a point to eat there once every trip, but as others have posted the last two times were not so great. At first we thought it was a fluke so on a subsequent trip we tried it again and it just wasn't up to it's old standards. Food was dry and not piping hot (we were eating right smack in the middle of their serving time, so time of day wasn't an issue). The flavor just wasn't there anymore on several of their dishes. This past trip we didn't eat there at all and no one missed it.

We ate at Cape May this past September and the food was fantastic. DH and I live on the East Coast near the river and are used to fresh seafood and what we got at Cape May was perfect. We've already got reservations for CM in January when we go back for our mini-vacation. :santa:
