Cape Cod having phone troubles?

Anyone having phone problems on Cape Cod? I've been trying to call my parents in Dennis since about noon....and all I get is a busy signal. Now, my Mom can talk ALOT...but I don't think she talks that much. LOL

Got an email around 6:30am from Dad...but nothing since. They use dial-up. If Dad is online, it still rings at their house. So it's not that.

I just wanted to check & make sure they are ok with the storm.

Not that I've seen, heard. I was talking with my fiancee who lives in Cotuit and had no problems. Hope all is ok.

Called my mom in Falmouth about an hour ago and everything was fine

It's possible that it's weather-related. Cape Cod even made the national NBC News because of the weather conditions.

Yes, my sister has had phone problems most of the day. even when she could get a dial tone, she couldnt log onto the internet.

Thanks, I figured as much. I won't worry toooo much then. I just hope they got shoveled or plowed out by someone...and that my dad didn't have to do it as his age.

I'm not sure about the Cape - I was able to reach family and friends in Dennis and P'town, but I know the islands are having phone problems. Most of Nantucket is without power or phone service. My brother is a police officer and my parents have been trying to reach him

I tried again. It rang. Mom answered. I could hear her saying hello. But she couldn't hear me at all. There was a very loud hum. I finally hung up. And now it's busy again for several times.

Oh well, at least I know they are alive.

Just now got off the phone with the fiancee in Cotuit...everythings fine, except for the tree that fell down in the front yard.

I got thru again. Same loud hum. Dad answered this time. We had to yell at each other to hear each other. The phone went out at 9:15am....and he hasn't been able to get out of the house to get to the neighbors to report it. They are snowed in. He said he's been waiting for one of us to call.

I've reported the phone problem.

I wish they didn't live so far away at times like this.

I live in Cotuit!
We lost power briefly this morning but our phone lines have been fine all day. The wind has been brutal most of the day so maybe that affected phone lines in other areas.

I called Verizon's cust serv line because that's who I have. I got the recorded menu from hell......got it reported, but it's going to take until TUESDAY for someone to go to their home?????? Does that sound right?

Of course, I can't get thru to dad to ask him or tell him anything.

That sounds like a WAAAAAY early estimate of when someone should be out to look at their trouble. Your parents have dial tone with a buzz on the line. They are not a priority by a longshot. The people with no dial tone, heart conditions, and lifeline are the priorities. I really don't see how they could have your parents on the schedule for Tuesday...that's short for a regular trouble interval. I'd guess more like a week at best. I hope that I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

Also, why is someone coming to their home? The origin trouble is most likely far outside their home. If you're lucky, there will be a bundle of troubles in the same wet cable, and they'll become a priority repair that way.
