Has anyone eaten here? Thought about trying it with free dining plan and wondered what the general opinion of the place is.

Also, is Narcoossee's at GF a fancy place (where you need to be "dressed" to go to? Is it appropriate for kids (12 y/o) or is it more of an adults only place?

Thanks!
Terri

We ate at Capt Jacks on our last trip (on dining plan, not free though LOL) and we honestly wish we'd eaten there more often during our trip! We only ended up eating there after cancelling other plans because it rained from noon until after 8:30pm! So that evening we ended up at DTD, cancelled our other PS, and went to Capt Jacks because we could use the dining plan there. We found the food delicious. Yes, the wait was long- but they don't take AR's there (atleast that's what I was told at Guest Services and there) and atleast they give you a return time.. instead of just saying sit here and wait for hours. LOL They gave us a return time of 45min later and after we returned it was only about 5min before our name was called. The service was okay, better than some other places we'd eaten during our 10 day trip, and the food was delicious. We got the crab trio and shrimp cocktail appetizers, lobster tail dinners, and the desserts were big and delicious also.

I think it's a way to maximize on the dining plan too- because with 2 adults (1 child eating as adult, 1 real adult LOL) and 1 child- the ticket was over $160 ... but ofcourse we used the dining plan to pay for it. I don't think there are any other meals you can eat at like that -that don't take 2 TS instead of 1? Atleast I haven't found any... that are that costly.

My DH and DS are looking forward to eating here in October (No changing their minds :wave2: ). Most reviews have been negative, so a positive review is refreshing. Anyone Else?

We ate there a few years ago and really enjoyed it. I think the food was better than Coral Reef. We sat at the bar because the wait was long, but we had GREAT service. I would eat there again. :fish:

Hi,

I ate there on Friday, December 12, 2003. After my proposed meet with a woman and her son at Restaurant Marrakesh fell through, I went to Downtown Disney to see if I could get a nice walk-up dinner. I walked into Cap 'N Jack's at 5:45 pm EST and--an advantage for a solo diner--was seated right away.

Served by Angela, I read the limited menu and started with New England clam chowder, then had seafood pasta--clams, shrimp and scallops on a bed of linguini--and finished with chocolate lava cake--chocolate cake with a warm liquid chocolate center--for dessert. I think the whole meal came to $US43.00 including tip, but it was delicious.

Narcoosee's is quite appropriate for kids. And no need to get all dressed up. Only prohibitions are swim suits and tank tops on men. We always dine there in nice shorts and new Disney t's.
