Can't we all just get along?!?

Dont forget you were also drinking from your resort mug that you purchased on your last visit, had your hubby save a table while you were in line ordering your cs meal during lunch today all while wearing a "its my birthday pin" the day before your real birthday!!!!! shame shame shame your gonna get flamed!!! ;) :rotfl2: :lmao: ;)

:scared1: How could I forget about those ones! I'm bringing my 2007 mugs with me for our resort...we bought 3 last year and they are the same this year so...:rolleyes1 Call me cheap, but it gives me $30 more dollars to bring my daughter to the BBB:)

I think this is why Disney took the tip out of dining (that AND they were losing money because servers were forcing extra apps and desserts on people to up the bill.)

I agree with most of your post, and I'm very sorry you had such a bad experience at Coral Reef. However, I could see a possible connection for lackluster or lazy service because they know the tip is guaranteed, but absolutely no reason that would cause a server to be mean or rude -- why would it do that? More likely the server was just having a very bad day, but you can't be in a service line of work and take out your bad moods on your customers.

I do have one minor disagreement with you, and I think it's really a common misconception. Disney, no matter what their PR people say, did NOT remove the tip because guests were getting less than stellar service. If that was the case, they would have removed the tip and lowered the cost of the dining plan significantly. They also did not remove the appetizer because guests thought it was "just too much food". If they did it for the benefit of the guests they would have changed it to a choice between app and dessert, and again, lowered the cost of the dining plan. The ONLY reason Disney removed the tip and appetizer was because they could make a lot more money. Nothing wrong with that -- they are a business, and a profitable one. The dining plan used to be a great deal...and now it's a good deal.

To truly get people riled up, you have to be more specific, like I tipped 25% while nursing my baby at the table of the restaurant that I had chosen out of the 6 dinner ADRs I had made so I could have my pick and sharing my buffet meal with a child who got in free because I lied about their age while character hogging and I ran my double stroller that I did not pay for, I just took from a ride and ran into 66 ankles on the way here. Did I leave anything out?

You forgot about smoking your cigarette in a non-smoking area and stopping in the middle of your row when you were the first one entering the row, using a wheelchair when you don't need it, and try to take advantange of the handicapped access, all the while dragging your 5 year old who is only tall enough because you've stuffed their shoes on Splash Mountain, while she is screaming that she doesn't want to ride it, but insists that she'll like it once she's on it.

We tip according to our service. We will tip bare bones if the service had some problems , but if it were absolutely horrible, we wouldn't tip at all. How's that for a tip! If its exceptional, expect us to tip nearly 30%.

OK I have to ask - Are you also Brazilian?:rotfl2:

LOL we did this in 2006 (brought back 2005's same mug, same resort) But they are too beat this year so we will be getting new ones

Did I mention that I save chairs with my towel? and that I pre boarded a SW flight with my then 6 yearold? I am surely going to Disney Hell :rotfl:

I am so confused!!

:headache:

It's so true! Pretty sad that we have to put disclaimers in our threads/posts...:rotfl2:

And I know it sounds horrible, but sometimes it's kinda funny to watch those particular people tweak out when someone doesn't have the same opinion as them. Drink a beer, take a valium, something! Geez!:scared:

But with this post aren't you doing the very thing you are complaining about? Post like this certainly don't promote everyone getting along. It seems more like you are fanning the flames than really being concerned about people getting along.:confused3

No, I don't think so...I'm not making unwarranted personal attacks on anyone and if you hadn't noticed, this has more turned into a discussion about "All Peeves Disney" :lmao: It seems that the majority of the people posting are just talking about intolerant people in general and sometimes it's comforting to talk to other people who are more of a relaxed Disser than a Type A Disser.

Granted i'm a Type A personality, but when I talk about Disney, magically, everything is OK!!:cloud9:

I have noticed that tipping is a VERY controversial subjest on here. It's almost as bad as religion and politics!:rotfl:

I have been flamed so many times because when threads ask "what do you tip", I say "On average 20-25%, because I have been a waitress and know how hard it is, you get stiffed daily and I feel for the waitresses who get the people who think it's ok to leave nothing while they are busting their butt to keep them happy." Or better yet, one guy said they make enough money already...so it's ok to stiff them?:rotfl: Priceless!

I didn't say that anyone else had to tip that, I said I did. Geez! Don't eat me!:scared: I'm just voicing my opinion. People on here can get downright venomous!

Sorry you got hassled. We tip that for good service. It's hard being a wait-person sometimes. We like to reward for good service. Anyway.. about your title...

unfortunately there's this thing called the human personality. :confused3

I dragged my daughter onto Splash Mountain when she was 4yrs old...no stuffing of shoes necessary, cause she is tall for her age range, but she didn't like it like I thought she would. And everytime I bring that ride up, she shudders and says "I am NOT going on that ride again! It scared me...I don't like the big hill!"

They have internet courage. It's easy to say nasty things to people that can't see you or can't show up at your house. A lot of these people wouldn't say it to your face. It's like the guy who becomes a cop because he was picked on in school. The gun and the badge now gives him courage. The anonymity of the internet is their gun and badge.
Disclaimer: I am NOT saying that about all cops. There are some great cops, but just like everything else, there are a few A-holes too.

I was going to say!!! My husband is a police officer and he wasn't picked on in school and became a cop for that reason! :scared1: He does it because he loves it! :lovestruc

Sorry to get away from the joking for a sec--but I have noticed that either way, you will get blasted.
IF--you complain about a CS not doing their job well enough, you'll get ripped apart b/c they had a bad day and how dare you criticize a Disney employee?

BUT--if you say that they deserve more (a good tip)--there will be people telling you that NO, they don't. That they make enough money and blah, blah, blah.

There will ALWAYS be someone who disagrees w/ you on any message board.

Now, back to the joking please! :cool1:

:rotfl2: Agreed...like people NEED someone to turn the covers down for them... do they need someone to tuck them in, too?:rotfl2:

So when someone else voices their "opinion" about liking turn down service you feel the need to bash their "opinion" so they can see things your way???

I agree, I don't see the point of this thread.

The gun and the badge now gives him courage.

Obviously you have no idea what you are talking about here. This statement is hurtful to people who have family members in the police force and put their life on the line everyday to keep us safe. Even people that are thankless like you.

Look at my tag and you'll see you have offend me and my family.

Ok, I did make a joke to make light of it because so many people get worked up about tipping. I almost always tip over and above. If the service was really bad, I still tip very well, I just make a not on the CC slip that the service was awful but food was good etc. I am also not passive aggressive, I don't wait until the end. I may ask for another server who is not so pressed for time etc. Subjecting yourself to an hour of misery is your own fault. I know they have to turn those slips in to get paid. I also look at it in the grand scheme of things, I am blessed. I work from home and have a wonderful business, I have always done well. I started as a bartender while I went to school. I waited on my share of people who treated me like a trained seal, people who were so nice and told me how great the service was and left nothing. An extra 10% is not going to break me, but it might improve the night of the person that waited on me. I think I continue to be blessed because of little things like tipping well and engaging people in conversation and treating everybody as a person whose voice matters. I have friends who are always broke and cheap out on tips, but their situation never changes, you don't read a book on millionaires who say they got rich by skimming dollars off tips. Most say to be generous. I live like I am rich, think like I am rich, tip like I am rich and everything else falls into place. Also, if I am on a date and I notice the guy leaves a crummy tip, I won't go out with him again, stingy with money stingy with love.

They made a point to say that they weren't talking about all police officers. We all know how many true heroes there are in the field. However, no one can deny that there are some cops (just like in any profession) who are doing their job for the wrong reasons.
I don't want to get OT here, but no matter what you say, someone will be offended. :confused3 YAWN!

When you make generalized comments like the one about only getting courage from a gun and badge, it will hurt those who have family in that profession, even if you are not talking about that one specific person.

I don't care if he had a disclaimer or not. His comment was just down right hurtful to everyone.

woah this one again?!

I always tip average amounts for average service, better for better service, and nothing for below average.

BUT... im kinda surprised this is such a hot issue for disney waitresses? with restaurants running so close to capacity through most of the year surely the tip totals must be massive? I mean sure... for non disney restaurants which run way under capacity it I can understand people getting a little excitable about it!

Whats the average bill price for an average TS meal at disney? say around $60? even if you took 15% on average (assuming most tip more, but some tip less) thats $9 a meal tip. I have no idea how many tables a waitress can cover an hour... but say maybe 2 on average over a 7 hour shift? 9*2*7 = $126. I reckon my numbers may be a little low as well? Assuming a 5 day week, 4 week month that makes $2520... and thats just tips. Im sure there are worse paid jobs in america...

Is it not funny that sometimes those who wish to be tolerant are intolerant to all others who oppose their view point. :surfweb:
