Hard Rock Hotel
3 nights Pool view Entertainment Rate $129
(Upgrade to club level because of poor service last summer at PB)
June 7-10

Upon arrival I was told we had recieved an upgrade to concierge and that our room was ready at 2:00pm.
The room was great, very comfortable beds and pillows!!! We found the service at the HRH far surpassed that that we had recieved last summer in the butler villas of PB! Every employee we came in contact with at this resort was FABULOUS!!!!!! The pool area was beautiful but crowded the bigger part of the time. We didn't dine at the HRH at all with the exception of ordering the kids room service one night. We are already planning a return trip to the HRH nest summer!

Dining:
NBA City- I loved my steak sandwich, DH liked his burger okay the kids complained their pizzas were to Small. $40

Nascar Cafe- We didn't enjoy our food here very much at all, my dh and I both had the chicken with mashed potatoes. We didn't care for the sauce on the chicken and the potatoes came from a box!!! Although we had the Best server of a 3 week trip at this place!!! $55

Margaretiville- LOVED IT!! Don't really remember how much we spent because we came here a few times and had a few really killer drinks !!! I do remember we both liked the cuban meatloaf sandwich and the pulled pork sandwich. I will confess I am not a big drinker but I would have been happy drinking that cocunut drink in a big Marg. glass instead of eating food.

We didn't eat breakfast out any because of the free continental breakfast offered on club level. I must say they had the best fresh pineapple!!!

Any questions I will be happy to answer.

Was the pool THAT crowded? Were all the loungers taken up?
I'm only thinking of my DW who likes to lie by the pool, (Which gives me time to sneak off to the bar! )

Wow, you sound like you had a GREAT TIME!

What exactly happened last year at PB? Did they tell you about your upgrade after you complained?

How'd you like the room service? We had the best waiter! He just so happened to know my contact at the Dolphin because they worked together. He was so coool, but so was EVERYONE I met there!

Welcome back!

Ooops. If "Selina"s post read a bit strangely (Surely she wouldn't have a DW?.......then again.) it was because it was actually me! I keep forgeting to log in after she's been on the boards! Silly me! :)

Robinrs I expressed my dissatisfaction when I checked out last year to a wonderful young man at the PB. We had a very poor butler who we did request be changed on the 3rd day, he really did a poor job. On top of that they really offer nothing for children on that level at the PB, for the extra expense my kids got a few free cokes. The young man told me to let them know when I booked a ressie again. In April I emailed Loews who in turn sent my email to the Dir. of operations in Orlando who emailed me back the next day. I was told they would make sure my vacation this year was as stress free as possible. THEY DID!!!!!!!!!!

Oops room service was fine all we ordered were 2 kids meals and the dessert that is a chocolate guitar with ice cream and 3 different icings in different colors. The kids loved it, hubby and I weren't hungry . It had been a Margaritville day!;)

We're thinking about HRH or PB for part of our FL trip next summer. Were you in the club various times of the day? Do you remember what was offered when?
Thanks - G&B

p.s. - how far is PB from HRH - if we wanted to walk to HRH from PB to pool-hop, would it be a major undertaking?

grumpyandbashful,
It depends on what you see as a major undertaking. It's not just a hop, skip and jump. The PBH is across the street, but the driveways for both hotels are quite long. The HRH is more convenient for getting to the parks. You don't have to wait for a shuttle or water taxi, it's an easy walk to the parks and City Walk from HRH.

Thank you Xavier! I was beginning to worry about Selina! :earseek:

Thanks for the answers, Snowwitch. I had a pretty pitiful experience at a Disney hotel and they offered me special services for my next trip but I forfeited it because it was only for THAT hotel and I wouldn't go back there for FREE!

I ordered their ice cream from room service every night. It was served in a bowl that was covered in ice. So Coool! And the ice cream tasted homemade! Comfort food for the soul after a rough day chasing an 8yo at the parks!

We were in and out at various times;
7:30-10:00am
Contin. Breakfast: Fresh pineapple, watermelon, honeydew and cantelope. Several flavors of yogurt, several cereals, donuts, various pastries. Coffee, juices.

5-7pm
Afternoon snacks: Everyday!! Cheeses, crackers, fruit, breads. (Dissappointing)

Several types of beer, a few wine selections, mixed drinks.

8:30pm
Cookies and milk, this annoyed me. What is the most popular cookie??? Chocolate Chip, they would have 3 or 4 of these and that is it!!!!

I must say we enjoyed our stay at HRH, and I greatly appreciated the upgrade but I would never pay for it at this resort. I found the breakfast fine, it is typical of what you will find at most hotels, the drink selection was also nice but the rest was well limited.
