Can't use Root Photography if our reception is in Animal Kingdom??!

Disney won't let an outside photographer come into the park for your reception?

That's right. You can only use Disney Photography for in park events - ceremonies, receptions, dessert parties, etc. This was a rule that went into effect last year so that is why you may see some photos from outside photographers of in park events, these are from before the rule.

No, if you want outside photographers you need outside locations - such as resorts, etc.

This rule sucks I love Root Photography's photos and was hoping to use them as well. I had thought about using them for ceremony and after pics, but I don't see the point hiring 2 different people for photos. I am leaning towards just using Disney photography (as much as I don't want to) for everything. Hopefully Disney steps up and gets some better photographers. I have seen some shoots that have turned out horrible, but I guess thats the luck of the draw.

There are a few Disney photographers who are very good, and many recent brides really recommend them. For my MK shoot I requested either Regina, Amy or Ty. After seeing their work from past brides I'm sure I'd be very happy with their work.

We chose to have our event outside of the park in exchange for being able to use the Roots. The only exception is our dessert party which we may use DPS for.

We chose a resort location so that we could have The Roots too! We had an engagement session with them and they were amazing. We LOVED them. For us it is totally worth the sacrifice of having an in park location to have amazing, beautiful photographs!!

We are going with the WP and ADH or Ariels because we want to use David and Vicki Arndt. They used to work for DPS and both are absolutely amazing photographers individually and together. I've already booked them and couldn't be happier with my choice.
