Can't switch resorts with the 40% code (anyone else)?

I have a 9 night package booked 10/22 thru 10/31. We are staying at AKL and they are telling us no other resorts available even when they check thru guest services. I really wanted WL or CR (garden wing, standard) but they say they are not available. I want to change because the construction and closer resorts will be more convenient to the parks. I just have this feeling that everyone is trying to get out of AKL and they won't let me switch resorts. Any hope that a room will open up in another resort? Linda

I thought that there were only so many rooms available per discount? IF so, perhaps your choices have rooms but not at the discounted rate.

We love AKL and I think you will love it. The location is not bad at all and their busses are great. Ask to be away from the construction and I am sure your trip will be great.

I have to code and was able to switch from AKL to WL...but that was a couple of months ago.

no. I do not feel that is the case at all!! I have the 40% and have changed from AKL to BC to GF to BC again, back to AKL and then CBR then back to AKL, wtih sept dates....all with the 40%. BUT at one time the sates I wanted in sept were not avab. till last week for me. So it looks like that is just a busy time with the codes. Mine also was for 9 nights.....so it can be done.

To the original poster:

Click the link in my signature in changing your 40% off reservation. You will always be told "no" if you only speak to the front line CMs who answer the phone. They do not have the power to do this.

You must politely request they speak to Guest Services to make this change. You may STILL be told no however. Anyway you slice it tho, Guest Services are the only ones who can make this change.

I did ask to speak to guest services, the CM was very nice about it, she said "no problem" and then came back on and said she just spoke with "Gavin" in guest services and he said WL and CR are not available. She did tell me to check back as there could be openings at any time, which I will do. Linda

Definitely keep trying, but I just wanted to add -- the length of your reservation (9 days, wasn't it?) is likely causing difficulty with availability. Many of us can attest to the fact that just one night "unavailable" within your dates, will cause the whole time to show no availability. (I'm probably not explaining that too well! Sorry!) Many of us do split stays (even at the same resort) to get around that problem, but I guess with the 40% off that may not be possible. Good luck and let us know what happens!

Also, WL and CR book up seemingly faster than a lot of resorts, that could be why...there is no availabilty. Try something else, something that usually has openings, like GF...just to see.

Just to ease your mind a little, though...I just posted a resort review on AKL if you are interested...fantastic place. I didn't hear one bit of construction noise.

Yeah... Give your coming in at the end of MNSSHP ... and you're asking for the most popular resorts.. Seems like a stretch. I'm surprised that NO other deluxe is available. Did you ask about 'any other deluxe' ?

I have a code that is not the one you used but I think very similiar, and they will let me change, but there is very limited options, for instance none at the Poly, only certain rooms at WL, so even though there may be rooms available, only so many will be allowed for the discount. Have you tried other resorts, like BC or BWI to see if they would allow that? Even if you don't take it, it would show you if this is the case.

This is a code that was out much earlier this year and only available (except for Disney's errors) to those who got an email, postcard or had a code attached to their name in the Disney system.

It had to be booked by 3/15 so for a couple rasons can not be shared.

1. It was not for general public use
2. It has expired

the construction is going on at CR, too.

so why would you want to change from one construction hotel to another one?

Just wanted to say that I was able to change our ressies to another hotel with this code and we have done this 3 times, We really wanted to stay at a certain hotel, and I kept calling weekly and last week we finally got the resort that we really wanted. We did just like canadian guy said to do and it all went so smooth. Thanks again canadian guy.
