It happens every time I get close to go to Disney. I start reading as many post's on Disboards as possible. I get crazed looking at different things...

Should I take ME?
Should I get a car?
Does anyone get their wait list accepted?

It is still over 24 days away... but I am already checking weather...

I just want my Vacation

We had always rented a car at the airport, then drove back at the end of the trip. Between those 2 trips, the car would usually sit in the parking lot - being paid for with no good reason. That is ... until ME!! It saves the hundreds of dollars the rental costs, which allows us to relax a bit about the money we're spending on everything else. For instance - a car for our trip in July would cost about $400 for the time we're down there. In my mind, that's a lot of extra deserts and ice cream bars!!

We took ME on this last trip and it went perfect. I know we got to the resort a lot faster than if we had rented a car. We didn't have to wait around a carousel for our luggage and went directly to the bus. We were off in less than 15 minutes from leaving the gate. When our room was ready at 3:00 pm, our bags were already waiting for us in the room. On the return it was great to actually check in to your airline right at your resort. So when you get to the airport, your luggage in already checked and you go directly to security. I highly recommend this service.

Totally agree with wheelcap and eva, we had great luck with ME. Plus we have young kids and this way we don't have to worry about bring car seats. The wife and I just went in Feb, landed at MCO about 11:15 grabed our luggage (decided not to use the yellow tags) checked into SSR grabbed a bite to eat and was at Hollywood Studios by 1:30. We didn't rush anything couldn't believe how fast it was - nice to check in at resort. We flew United that time, we usually fly Midwest and for some reason they don't have the check in option at Disney :headache:

We had a car one trip many years ago and it didn't move the whole time from the parking spot. I figure into a $$ benefit by staying on resort, and now with DVC also figure the savings of being able to eat in the room.

I've rented a car a few times and done ME a few times. this upcoming trip (June) I will be renting because we will be taking our 3 year old and 6 month old and I know that having a car will just be easier w/ the baby with coming and going to parks, airport, etc. Also, we're doing the early morning surfing at TL and would need to take a cab (or do something) to get us to the park by 5:45am....no bus service at that time.

In general I'm perfectly fine w/ ME and the Disney busses, but this time the rental car will do us fine.

Free ME does make it tough. If I were flying, I'd likely not rent a care either or only rent one for part of the time. We actually have the same decision for our Aruba trip coming up next Jan. It's cheaper and ? safer (insurance wise) not to rent a car but you give up something in flexibility if you don't. Every time I think I've made the decision some other piece of info comes along or I see a thread that pushes me the other way.

Count me in as loving ME and WDW transportation. :thumbsup2 While we have rented a car, we generally don't.

Something to toss around is renting it for a couple of days when you really need it. When we have a car, we generally use it for 3 things:
1) Getting to and from airport
2) Groceries
3) Eating off-site a couple of nights, outlet malls and/or other area attractions outside of WDW

ME takes care of the need getting to and from the airport, so cross those two days off. There are companies that will come and pick you up to get your car (which is what we did), so you don't have to rent from the airport. We found this option to be less expensive anyway due to additional fees. So, rent the car 2 or 3 days into your stay, which will allow you to get your groceries and do your off-site running around and use Dis's transportation for the rest of your stay. This may save some money and give you the best of both worlds! :goodvibes

We've used ME a couple of times and while the first time wasn't so great (it had just started and they were still working out the bugs) It's been wonderful ever since. If we decide to go off property we call one of the car rental places on property (one in MK parking lot or the one across from DTD) and it's much less expensive and we get the car for the time we are going to use it only.

We usually use a car for some of our stay because of going to church and also in season, we feel we must stop at Red Hill Orchards on Conway to get their OJ and fresh oranges. When we get the car, I do go to Publix for some groceries or bottled water.

For this week's trip, I won't have the car until DH arrives on Friday morning. I'm making do with Disney's supplies until then. I'll be there on Wednesday!!!We both hope that DH remembers to stop for OJ on his way from the airport! He has a "free weekend" from Avis this weekend, so the car cost will be nominal for us.

We just used ME for the first time last week and it was well worth it imo! We had our supplies delivered from garden grocer and things couldn't have gone smoother. Sure you have to be ready to go at the bus stop 3 hours before you leave which can be a pain if you have early flights back home but small price to pay for such an easy time of getting there/leaving there with your luggage. I would highly recommend it to anyone!:thumbsup2

I'm with you. I'm planning for my umpteenth trip that is still 6 months away and I can't stop reading and posting either!

My vote is definitely for ME. We used to rent a car mainly to get groceries. Now we just used ME, WDW transportation and Wegoshop. It is way less troublesome.
