I think you should be ok with the pasta as long as you aren't eating more than a serving. According to the glycemic index, pasta is actually low gylcemic. I have eaten spaghetti without a problem. You could also get whole wheat pasta, it doesn't taste much different than regular. Since I started eating better it usually isn't what I eat, but if I eat frequently enough that seems to control my blood sugar. Except of course if I start eating sugary foods, white flour products, and alcohol.
I'm glad you're taking the steps now to head off the low blood sugar. It really isn't a fun thing to deal with. For the most part you need to be aware when and what you are eating, so when you start feeling hungry too soon you can figure out why.

I'm on the *go* so much, that I don't pay attention to what/when I'm eating...and my issue isn't that I don't make the time to eat....it's that I make too many *grabs* in the pantry as I'm headed out the door yet again!
