Can't Stop Eating

Lynda,
I think you should be ok with the pasta as long as you aren't eating more than a serving. According to the glycemic index, pasta is actually low gylcemic. I have eaten spaghetti without a problem. You could also get whole wheat pasta, it doesn't taste much different than regular. Since I started eating better it usually isn't what I eat, but if I eat frequently enough that seems to control my blood sugar. Except of course if I start eating sugary foods, white flour products, and alcohol.
I'm glad you're taking the steps now to head off the low blood sugar. It really isn't a fun thing to deal with. For the most part you need to be aware when and what you are eating, so when you start feeling hungry too soon you can figure out why.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask away!:D

Thanks again, Tabitha, for the info. I think I'll definitely try the whole grain pasta. I am trying to control the blood sugar thing too before it gets out of control. That's one reason why I joined Curves! Between the exercise I do there and watching my diet, I'm hoping things will work out okay.

I've already tried some of the suggestions that the other posters have recommended and I'm feeling not as hungry, so thanks everyone! And as usual, thanks for all the support!

I would suggest Dr Phils book. He talks a lot about habits to change for "life" to loose and maintain a healthy weight.

Also how much water do you drink. Perhaps maybe whst you think is hunger is really just thirst. It is confusing to the brain at times. :)

Hi Melissa! Yes, I was thinking too of picking up Dr Phil's book because I had heard that he talks about things like habits and reasons behind your eating. I'll have to definitely buy it and see what he says.

I have followed a number of suggestions provided here on this thread and feel better already. I also managed to lose 2 pounds last week so that was a real pick me up!

I have to share a story with you. I went to a ladies clothing store on Friday. I had seen a cute capri outfit that I thought would be perfect for the Disney Cruise I'm going on in October. I had seen the outfit at the beginning of the week but didn't buy it. But the more I thought about it, the more I felt it would be a good buy so I went on Friday and made a special 20 km trip to pick it up. I had a bit of difficulty locating it in the store but then the saleslady finally found it and it was the last one! But my heart dropped when she told me it was a size 6! Now usually I'm a size 10 or 12 (especially a 12 in the hips!) so I thought I would never fit into that outfit! But she told me to try it on and miracle of miracles, it fit perfectly! Now it must be a VERY large 6 and it was kind of a knit material so it was stretchy and had a lot of give to it. But a 6!!!!!! I told the saleslady that I was going to frame the price tag with the size on it!

Thanks again for all the support! And I am drinking my water as I type!

I've also had to deal with those "shove food in your mouth like there's no tomorrow" demons! My best strategy for that.....I only eat at the kitchen table, and all my food must be put on a plate. No grabbing hand-fuls of chips, or sneaking a *taste* of whatever is calling my name.....if I don't have the time/desire to SIT and eat off a plate, I don't eat it. It's helped me tremendously.

Good luck ~ we're all pulling for you! ::yes::

My problem is is that I sit at the kitchen table and read a lot! And then of course, I develop the munchies or want something to snack on with my tea! So I'm trying to stay out of the kitchen!

Thanks for pulling for Christine and I! We appreciate it!

Well, then my strategy won't work for you, will it!?! :p I'm on the *go* so much, that I don't pay attention to what/when I'm eating...and my issue isn't that I don't make the time to eat....it's that I make too many *grabs* in the pantry as I'm headed out the door yet again!

Finding what *works* for you is the hardest part I think ~ once you get that figured out you should be on your way to success! ::yes::
