 Stupid iPad...it looks like the iOS has updated something and now I can't stay logged-in on the DIS and the multi-quote function doesn't work. I've looked in my settings and don't see anywhere to make adjustments - it only seems to be the DIS where this is happening. Anybody have any ideas?

Have you tried switching browsers?

Certainly NOT - I am extremely change resistant. :snooty: Seriously, would that make a difference? I'm currently using Safari.

I'm not am expert, but it sounds more like a browser issue to me than a device one.

Be worth a try anyway. :)

I was having the same sue. We reset back to factory settings and I know longer have the problem. Can't say that is what is going on with you. But it drove me nuts.

How do you restore the previous version? I am super-pissed by this as I had a number of really, really important tabs open (yes, I know I should have book-marked them, but I didn't) and they all closed and disappeared from my history. I HATE certain things about the iPad - it being so completely counter-intuitive to a Windows-based environment being the main one.

I found this:

  1. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase all Content and Settings.
  2. An Erase iPhone/iPad warning box will now pop up. Click Erase and enter the device’s passcode and Apple ID info when prompted.
  3. The device will then reset and, when completed, you’ll be presented with an iPhone/iPad as if it were straight out of the box.

I'm no expert, but that seems fraught with potential for disaster. :scared: And I'm pretty sure my DH would freak if I did it and screwed something up. Sounds like trying Chrome has less life-altering consequences. Thanks a lot though. :wave2:

Somehow, my iPhone got switched to "private mode" under the internet settings one time & caused the same issue as you on the Dis, but not FB. I hadn't even done an update. Was a very frustrating couple of weeks.

Probably a wise choice. :)

I did find a site that has a lot of other info- might find something helpful.

Does the iPad have a setting like that somewhere? :o I'm a Blackberry/Microsoft user - iPad is the only Apple product I ever touch.)

Thanks for trying. {{sigh}} The problem started at random, maybe it will heal itself the same way...

I had the same issue when I used my iPad, which is why I only use it under duress and why it's been slung somewhere.

I can't stand Apple products at the best of times let alone when they don't work how I want them to work.

When you are on a site, having Safari open and viewing, go to the top left corner of "toolbar", not sure if that is what it is called. You should see a double square type thing. Hit that, it should "minimize your windows. You should then see the word "private" in the upper right hand side.

Don't erase all content and settings. Try a hard reboot first. Press home and power button until it shuts down then hit either one and the Apple logo should pop up indicating it's rebooting.

Did you update over WiFi or did you do it through iTunes? Sometimes if you do it over WiFi so,etching goes a little afud. In that case you could reinstall with iTunes. Honestly though, this doesn't sound like an iOS problem, it sounds like a browser problem. You could try resetting your network settings and/or your Safari settings then rebooting. Do you have ad blockers set? That could be causing an issue as well. You can try white listing the Dis and see if that helps.

Under Settings>Safari is it set up somewhat like this? It could have reset your settings during the update.

I didn't actively do anything to update it so I'm not sure how it actually processed. No ad blocker on the iPad - I need to be able to keep up with zombie threads on at least one device. ;)

Is the screen shot you attached the way the settings are supposed to be?

Well it's pretty much personal preference but the way those are set up the iPad auto fills my log in/password and I have it set to let the Dis use cookies. Those two things should let the Dis recognize me and keep me logged in.

Your device should not auto update the software by itself. It's hard to imagine how that could happen because it pops up and once you give the go ahead to update you have to agree to the new terms twice. The only scenario I'm aware of that it would update without you selecting to update is if you got the pop up and chose, "install tonight" but even then you have to hit that and agree to the terms.

eta: Is it telling you that there's an update? Rather than the actual update having been installed? Under "about" it should tell you what version you have. The latest is 9.3.4

You know, the issue could be the Dis itself with them testing out the new ad format. If it's the only site you're having an issue with maybe try looking at your profile settings.
