Does anyone know of any good fitting earphones or earbuds that would be comfortale enough for me to wear while sleeping on my side?

At home this is not so bad b/c I can go to another room when his snoring is really bad. But when we go to WDW in September, I'm not sure I will be able to sleep in the same room with him.

The first thing to do is send him packing to a doctor to make sure there is no medical reason for his snoring.

The next is to "train" him to not snore. This has worked fairly well with my husband, through 15+ years of nudges, pushes, and kicks he's learned to sleep on his side.

Last resort--ear plugs. I have custom fitted ear plugs because I go to a lot of concerts. They actually made a mold of my ears so they fit perfectly--they are silicone. Mine have a plug that allows noise through but reduces the Db level, you can get them made to totally cut out sounds as well. You'll need to see an audiologist to get them made, I paid about $70 for them, but they are comfortable enough to sleep in for sure.

You can find good snore reducing earplugs at Home Depot. I prefer the ones that are rounded on one end and flat on the other end. Like this:

They have a higher decible rating (block out more noise) than the common yellow ones:

Good luck - putting up with snoring is no fun!

Send him for a sleep test - my husband snored like Fred Flintstone (remember the episode when he blew the roof up and down). He recently went for a sleep test and found out he has sleep apnea - it can be deadly - you actually stop breathing through the night and loud snoring is one of the signs. Speak to your doctor to ensure it's not "just snoring". I am now happy to report that my husband no longer snores and I can actually get a good night's sleep!

i second the dr too!!

You can find really good foam earplugs at most sporting goods stores in the hunting/shooting area. They are very high rated decibal reduction. They are also inexpensive and comfortable. It would be a good way to see if they will help before you buy the expensive kind...

I use a combination of ear plugs (I just get them in the grocery store) and Tylenol PM. With that combination - I can sleep through a freight train and am not tired in the morning.

I WISH DH would go to a Dr. but I have not been successful yet in getting him to do so. One time, when he went for something else, the Dr. told him he would quit snoring if he lost weight. I don't think the doctor understands the difference between a little gurgle and the fact that I can hear DH through two floors of a 2800 sq ft house!

Best of luck! I SOOOO understand your pain!

That's what I use, and I get them at Walgreens. They work quite well for me, and are comfortable enough they don't disturb my sleep.

I can't do the foam ones, they never work for me. What I get is the wax earplugs from either Safeway or Walmart. I can feel your pain, I am not looking forward to WDW and sharing a double sixe bed with my SO who snores so totally loud.

I never could find any ear plugs that would work for me. They would end up hurting after a few hours with the pressure upon the ear.

I noticed that DH would stop snoring sometimes (big sigh of relief....I can sleep now!) but then he would do this loud snore after 15 seconds or so. I realized that he had stopped breathing. I insisted that he get to our PCP and seek medical help for possible sleep apnea.

He had a sleep study done and yep, he had sleep apnea. Now, he has to use a CPAP machine and the snoring is gone! The machine just has the "white noise" that does not disturb anyone and now we don't have to worry about him stopping breathing and I can sleep finally!

I would suggest your DH see his dr. to rule out sleep apnea.

I am a snorer. I went to a sleep clinic and they said I didn't have sleep apnea and my snoring isn't that loud compared to others. It bothers DW, who also snores, so we sleep in different bedrooms at home (been married almost 35 years). In a hotel room we take a white noise machine which helps both of us sleep.

If you work in a hospital or know anyone that does:

go to the MRI department, they usually have the foam earplugs that work really well.

Yellow ones are good, I use them all the time and sleep like a baby. :cloud9:

Or you can do what my mom does and take 2 Tylenol PM's before bed

I too use ear plugs and tylenol PM and a PM vitamin. If I go to bed around 10:30 or 11 and sleep till 4:30, that's about all I'm going to get and can function perfectly with that. I do require a nap by Saturday afternoon but hey whatever works.

My husband had sleep apnea and did all the tests. Hated the machine the tried on him. Gave him a migrane. Dr said if he lost 20 lbs all his problems would be solved. You know, he lost about 30 and the Dr. was right. Sleeps like a baby, almost never snores or moves for that matter. I still have a hard time sleeping but not because he keeps me awake.

Good luck

These are the ones I use - white

I second the Mack's brand of earplugs. I use the child's version because I have small ears. They work really well! They aren't foam, they are a wax, kind of smiliar feeling to candle wax. Whenever I vacation with family and I know they snore, I use these and don't notice it at all!

With DH, I just nudge him to turn on his right side, that always works. :)
