We are Disney lovers, we go to WDW every year and in 2009 we finally bought into DVC. The problem is that I feel like it is something that brings out a negative reaction from people when they find out we are in it. There are a couple exceptions; My family is excited for me and we have brought them along on a few trips. I have one friend who is also in DVC and talk with her about DVC/Disney stuff. We've never told the in-laws. They've criticized us for years about going there. (we've never made snide remarks about their vacation choices) But, I've noticed negative reactions when talking with other Disney fans. We'll be having a great converstion about their trips and things they like to do, then I will mention DVC and share where I have stayed. Not bragging, just as part of the sharing/exchange of trip reports etc. This seems to put a stop to the conversation and my fellow Disney fan seems to be done talking about Disney. Kind of puzzled by the reaction. I mean, I'm excited about it & when I hear of other Disney fans I like to talk with them about their trips. When I did not have DVC I would enjoy hearing about the DVC members experiences. I get the feeling that this is taboo topic with some. Does anyone else notice this? Is there a DVC etiquette thing, where you are not supposed to mention it?
I think some people just don't get it and others, like perhaps your in-laws and other "Disney" people may just be a tad envyous.
I frequent these boards so I can share my excitement. It's just so fun to talk about & I love hearing about other's trip reports. I don't talk about DVC with people normaly, when I do it''s when I think I've found a fellow DIS'er who might enjoy talking about it. It seems that many times others will talk freely about their own Disney vacation. (which I truly enjoy hearing about) I'll ask them questions about what they did, liked or where they stayed etc.. then when they finish talking about their vacation they are ready to move on and don't want to hear about my last trip. I guess that it's like that saying, "Everyone's favorite sound is their own voice."
To each his own, I'll just share on here!
