If you suddenly get an email saying your existing reservation (the one the WL was set to replace) was canceled, don’t panic! That usually means your WL matched, and later you’ll get the Welcome Home email confirming the change.

This happened to me twice recently and I panicked both times. The first time, I immediately checked my dashboard and saw the new reservation. The email with the new reservation comes later. Phew!

Happened to me too. I don’t usually log into my member account on my phone, but I did as soon as I saw that email! It made me so happy - my WL to switch from P/G view to BW view, for 7 nights in December no less, came through!

That's awesome! Yes that would definitely terrify me especially how hard I've worked to get BW resort view. I am always super nervous modifying or changing anything too, worrying that one day I will do it to the wrong reservation! Sometimes when these rooms pop up I have to do it so fast. Thankfully, I am done booking everything and just waiting for this wl to hopefully go thru but if not at least I'll still get to experience a crescent lake resort!

No one really knows how the waitlist system captures nights or how frequently it runs, but waitlists match without being manually booked by a CM. They just aren't booked on points without a CM.

You can have waitlists sitting that matched and have no idea unless you call or chat MS. Sometimes you can be calling about something else and MS will just say congrats, I see your waitlist matched, would you like me to book it for you? You can also call or chat just to ask if they matched. Or if you aren't obsessing over it you randomly get an email it was booked and it looks like a regular reservation was made. This doesn't mean it matched and was booked at the same time. It could have been sitting matched, but unbooked for days/weeks.

I wonder if this happened w/ my Aulani WL, I kept seeing most of the days I needed for my WL come and go and hoping it went because my WL fulfilled. I ended up cancelling the WL's last night.

It could be! You may also be able to book your own nights without the waitlist, see it sold out, cancel the waitlist, and then see the nights go back into inventory. It's a very interesting process. LOL

I wonder if this happened w/ my Aulani WL, I kept seeing most of the days I needed for my WL come and go and hoping it went because my WL fulfilled. I ended up cancelling the WL's last night.

I wonder if this happened to me too. I had no idea it worked like this and cancelled some wl's I wanted before asking, I forget why now I'll always ask before doing that!

The thing is that the WL is an all or nothing. I was doubtful that my WL would fill, because it required seven specific nights to come available all at one time. If only one or two nights come available, they will not be held for you. They will be given to people who wanted only those one or two nights.

This also happens with the reservation merge requests.

However, I have never received an email for a matched waitlist that wasn't replacing an existing reservation. It just kinda sits there in limbo until booked
