I just called for an information packet on DVC. They told me that DVC is not registered in WA. I would HAVE to purchase a resale, or go to Florida to purchase at SSR.

So, anyone from WA have experience with purchasing from Disney without being in Florida? Any way around the rules? I can't even get an informational packet.

Thanks for you insights!

Jess

Hi Jess

We are from Monroe, WA. We had the same problem. We did buy are 1st ones while we were down there years ago. But when we wanted to add they could not do it. The guide we had at the time was able to send the info to my brother in California who sent it to me. We did have a problem on the notarized signatures. We did it in Washington and they sent it back because of that, so we took a trip california and had it done there. If you have any more questions just email me.

Thanks
Scott

I'm in Nebraska and we can't buy from here either. We bought onsite last summer. They wouldn't send any info to our relatives in other states or even to dh's company's headquarters there in FL. They were really strict. Are you planning any trips there soon? That's all I can recommend. I don't think we can even do resale in my state.

We also live in WA and are in the process of purchasing a resale. I was hoping the fact that DVC can't sell here would improve our chances of making it through ROFR. That was not the case the first time around and we are now waiting for word on whether or not our counter-offer will make it through.

As for SSR, you might want to see if DVC can sell in Oregon or Idaho. If so, a call to a local title office that has branches in either of those states may be the answer to your problem. The packet could be send to the title office, which would then forward it to you. At that point, you would just need to make arrangements to have your signatures notarized. Ask them what fees might be involved in this transaction. Seems like it would work but haven't done it myself. Good luck!

Go resale if you don't need financing. It's easy and cheaper. IMO, the extra 12 years for SSR don't make that much difference. In the long run though, decide what you truly want and figure out a way to make it work. If SSR is what you want, I guess you'll just have to take a trip to WDW.

Hi Jess:)
My sister and I were interested in DVC also and live in South Central and Northern Montana. We did receive an information packet and each of us were called by a representive. This was in October,2003 and for purchasing Saratoga Springs.
I'm not sure as to why Montana would not fall under the same rules as Washington.
I'm not any help, just curious like you.

Hi gildis,

No problem buying from a non-registered state if you purchase a resale. You are buying from an individual rather than a corporation and the same rules don't apply.

I suggested the Timeshare Store to three of my friends and they were all thrilled with their purchases. 800-550-6493.

Obviously you can't buy a Saratoga Springs resale because no one has closed on their purchase yet and they can't be resold. But, for the savings in cost, it's a bargain to buy any of the other six resorts. You can usually find one with banked points for much less than the $10 off deal DVC offers where you have to give up your points to get the discount.

Let me know how you make out!
