Hi all!

We are taking a trip in October for my daughter's 21st. We only have 4 days, so I'm not sure how many ADR's to pack in there. We are not huge eaters, but would like to try a few places and like nice food - not fans of fast food. We are planning on using one day for our resort (AKL) and for checking out the Poly and Beach Club (may stay there in future). We are staying club level so figure that will do for most breakfasts.

So far I have:

Wed - None (arrive late)
Thurs - GF Tea 2pm, Dinner Coral Reef
Fri - None yet
Sat - Jiko dinner
Sun - None yet (leave late that night)

I wanted to try Boma too but not sure if it would be possible to just do a walk-up for that? I don't really like planning all our meals. Also, should we make a reservation for somewhere at either the Poly or Beach Club or is there anywhere else that we shouldn't miss? We haven't been to Disney World in years, and at that time didn't have the money for good food so I don't really know much!

Since you're staying at AKL, I would highly suggest visiting Boma and Sanaa!

You could get a walk up at Boma if you go when they first open - 7:30am for breakfast or 4:30pm for dinner. Outside of the first 15 minutes, I would not put my money on a walk up.

Sanaa might work for a walk up, especially if you try not to dine around 6-8. Sanaa is really excellent Indian inspired food. I think it's the best non-signature Disney restaurant so it'd be a shame not to eat there while you're staying so close!

Since you would rather not plan all your meals, I'll list places that would most likely be able to accomodate a walk-up within a reasonable amount of time. However, I have not eaten at all of these:
Sanaa - AKV Kidani (Love love love!)
Big River Grille - BWI
Il Mulino - Swan
Kimonos - Swan
bluezoo - Dolphin (amazing but expensive)
The Wave - CR
Grand Floridian Cafe - GF
Turf Club - SSR (Been here and highly recommend! Traditional, but nice, American fare)
Artist Point - WL (Been here, a signature. Good, worth a visit, but I wouldn't call it amazing.)
Captain's Grille - YC

Most places at DTD do a lot of walk-ups, but I would avoid dining between 6-8pm.

BTW, JIko is awesome. My 2nd or 3rd favorite restaurant at Disney!

There are lots of counter service restaurants that I would not qualify as 'fast food' and there are others that are definitely worth it and have unique items on their menus. So before you think you have to have table service, think about where you might get some good quick service - like Tangeriene Cafe at Morocco in Epcot, or Columbia Harbour House in MK or Flame Tree BBQ at AK or Earl of Sandwich at DTD.

To save on travel time, definitely make ADRs for all the restaurants at your resort! And if you do head to the Poly, Ohana is great!

Each family is different on how they like to eat and such so make the right decision for you.

I've read great things about the Flying Fish; you could check it out when you go to the BC. Have fun. It sounds like a great trip!

I've heard such wonderful things about all the AKL restaurants. I would second trying out as many of those.

Since you only have 4 days, I wouldn't jam in too many ADRs. That being said, I really like Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club and 'Ohana at the Polynesian. People also like Kona Cafe at the Poly. I think that if you are already going to Jiko *and* you are staying Club Level, you can easily skip Boma. I can also recommend a couple of Counter Service restaurants in Epcot that are not at all "fast food". They are Sunshine Seasons, the Tangerine Cafe and Yakitori House.
