Is it or was it ever a rule that you can't leave a country in the World Showcase with a drink in hand? Like if you buy a drink in France, you can't walk to the U.K.?

I've never seen that happen but somebody tells me it happened to them in the late 90s.

It's not, and never was as far as I know.

Nope I have bought a drink in mexico and still had it by the time we got to italy and not once did anyone stop me

Been going every year since 1994, never had it happen to me. I do know you can't exit the park with a drink in hand.

Epcot is considered one venue. You can carry your beverages around to different countries or even future world. you cannot, however, leave epcot with an alcoholic beverage.

You can not leave the park with an obvious drink, but you can walk around all you want. That's where those refillable mugs come in handy.

Bring a mug to Epcot. You can put your Grey Goose Slushie in it. No spilling out of the chintzy shallow plastic cup and you can take that sucker back to the BC with you to enjoy by the pool.

Bring a mug or do the chug, the unofficial motto of the BC thread.

There is the possibility that if you are in a restaurant and you purchase a drink as part of a meal that you will not be allowed to leave the restaurant with the drink in hand. But more than likely it is because it is glass and not plastic.

And don't forget, even without F&W in progress there are locations along the World Showcase Promenade where you may purchase alcoholic beverages.

Absolutely no rule against walking anywhere inside the park with a drink, as long as it is in a plastic container. You can't leave the park with it though. The person who had it happen to them may have tried to leave a bar or restaurant with a glass instead of plastic.

All the bars will give you a plastic cup to go. The kiosks only serve in plastic. As for the restaurants, I do not know if you can ask for a plastic cup and take your beverage out.

I walked all around the WS with my margarita from Mexico (outside stand). I have seen them stop people exiting the park with a drink.

not true

The rules for buying/transporting bottled (sealed) alcohol in the parks are kind of strange, too.

I purchased a bottle of wine in the France pavillion. The wouldn't let us ship it back to our WL room for whatever reason, so we carried it out the International Gateway on our way to Fantasmic. When we tried to enter HS, they confiscated it and held it at security (even though it was boxed up in a Disney shopping bag and I had the receipt). Kind of embarrassing, and it took awhile to claim it from the booth at park closing. They told me to bring it back to my room next time. Um... next time I just won't buy the wine.

I get it... it's a glass bottle filled with alcohol... but it was just fine in Epcot. Obviously, it would not have been "okay" to open it in either park.

You can walk around epcot with your drink but you cannot leave out the front gate or the international gate with it.

They might be getting Epcot confused with Pleasure Island. In the past Downtown Disney didn't have a single liquor license, each section had its own. So if you wanted to go from Pleasure Island to Marketplace you would have to finish your drink before continuing.

You can :) But not out of EPCOT as a whole.

Monday DH bought a beer in a souvienr 'mug' (plastic tall mug) from Germany. When he'd finished it, he poured Iced Tea from his canteen and was walking around with his tea in hand. When he and DD tried to leave the park via the front gates (FW) they wouldn't let him b/c it looked like beer. Pour it out or drink it, they told him. Even though he TOLD him it was tea.

So he chugged it. ;) And said he had people cheering and clapping for him as if it were a frat party. LOL. Wish I'd seen it, but I was busy buying a bottle of wine in Germany at the time!

the nice cast members at Akershus but my adult beverage in a plastic Minnie Mouse to go cup. I felt so naughty sipping booze out of a cup with Minnie on it. :rotfl:

If you buy a bottle of wine at Epcot, you aren't supposed to open it, but you can carry it around the park with you. As long as it is sealed and not open, you can carry it out of the park. But you will not be permitted to carry it into another park.

I can't comment on Disney's policies, but on our last Florida trip we went to Chevy's, and Bahama Breeze, and both times we saw people walking around in the parking lot with drinks in their hands. We were quite surprised as this is a big no no were I come from. Since I can never finish my drink, that Minnie Mouse to go cup would be the perfect solution for me. I'll just have to take my chances on being 'naughty'.;)

I can tell you that's not true. Hell - how would I make it around World Showcase without a beer I bought when I first got there? That's my favorite part of Disney World - walking all around the World with a beer and just people watching. Bud Lite, $5.50 at the Promenade Refreshment or a margarita from Mexico (depends on the season and my mood) and off I go.

World Showcase doesn't have international borders.
