Can't get motivated to do dining ressies/pick which park which day.

We will be in DL during a slow time - May 6 - 12. I have on my calendar when to call for F! dessert reservations. But nothing else planned.

Usually we can walk into Storyteller's for late lunch - planned to do that on the Friday we arrive and check in.

Sat. we won't be at DL.

Sunday - only thing planned is whichever park has the least crowds. Does it matter on a Sunday? And to see the fireworks in the evening.

Mon-Wed. - pretty slow days, I would say. We definitely plan on Blue Bayou for lunch (first seating) on one of these days - unless I've already lost out on calling. Can't decide which day.

My problem is we are fitting in a spa afternoon (cannot be on a weekend) and probably on a different day, an afternoon swimming at the new DL hotel. Neither is planned yet.

So I haven't figured out which parks on which days and thus, where to eat. Not thrilled that Carnation Cafe is closed.

We like sit down w/o character dining.

Blue Bayou
Cafe Orleans
Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen
Red Wagon Corn Dogs

Is Plaza Inn character meals ALL day long? If not, is it cafeteria style or sit down service?

Jolly Holiday says it has quiche, soups, salads. Anyone eaten a meal, not pasteries?

I think River Belle Terrace is always closed during slow season? Where is this in Frontierland? What's good there?

We never eat at DCA park.

If we are already having corn dogs at the Red Wagon in DL - is Corn Dog Castle any better/worse?

Any thoughts on Pacific Wharf Cafe food?

What about Wine Country Trattoria? If we want lunch or dinner there are we going to be competing with the WOC dining plan?

Which ones do I really need to get reservations for, other than Blue Bayou and Ralph Brennan's?

Does is matter which parks on which days Sun-Wed?

Do I need to worry about this when it's slow season?

Thanks!

no only breakfast

not yet but plan to in two weeks

No it is always open. We have only eaten breakfast there. LOVE the potatos.

They are the same thing, though at the corn dog castle has hot links & cheese sticks too.

Yummy Vegetarian Chili. Get the bread bowl on the side. That way if you can't finish it you can take with you for snaking later in the day.

Start at Disneyland if you opens before DCA. Hop over to DCA. Hop back. We never plan in terms of going to Disneyland one day, DCA the other. We always hop.

Plaza is only characters for breakfast. The rest of the day its quick service. I think its buffet for the breakfast.

River Belle is across from Pirates and is open year round.

Are you not doing park hoppers? If not the promo tickets include park hopping for the same price as 1 park/day tickets. It's way too easy to park hop and you shouldn't worry about what park on which days.

Hi. Thanks for the answers so far.

Yes, we will be able to hop. Planning on getting AP's and going again in the fall for CarsLand.
We just don't want to be running back and forth between parks. No problem starting in one and then later going to the other one. Just am not sure if it matters which park to start with on weekdays. Not sure if we will get up early enough for MM (I know, I know, but this is supposed to be a relaxing trip and it's slow season).

We've had the character breakfast at Plaza Inn. Very pretty inside but is the quick service food the rest of the day any good?

Please report back on the food (not pastries) at Jolly Holiday. :)

Anyone else have comments on the food at the places I mentioned?

Thank you!

We love the fried chicken at Plaza Inn. It comes with three large pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a biscuit. I think it is about $14. They also have really good salads and desserts. It's one of our favorite places to eat!

Thanks! I should have said we are trying to eat a bit healthier - not much fried food except, of course the Red Wagon corn dog one time. :)

Does the Plaza have a variety of salads?

They have a Cobb salad that they mix for you. They also have side salads. If you are staying away from fried, you might like their pot roast or their pasta dishes.

Great!

Anyone on the food at Wine Country Trattoria (minus the wine)?

We liked Wine Country Trattoria, but we haven't been in a couple of years. I think their menu has changed since then.

We enjoy the Pacific Wharf soups and bread. We LOVE:lovestruc Cove Bar, but sadly its closed thru May, I believe. I can't really say that we have found a place that we didn't like, except the hamburgers.

We will be there May 10-13 and only have ressies for Blue Bayou on Sat. We are gonna wing it the rest of the trip. We tend to eat at off times and haven't had trouble even during the busy season getting into restaurants. One of the pluses of DLR and being flexible!

We had a fabulous special meal at the trattoria a few years back for my dad's birthday-definitely recommend.

DCA has the new Boardwalk Pasta and Paradise Grill area. We really enjoy that area. Good variety. Check out the menus and reviews here. :thumbsup2

Thanks! Taking notes.

Do you need reservations at Wine Country Trattoria on a Mon-Wed (slow) in early May? Is this one of the places they have the dining package for WOC and therefore we would be competing for tables?

Sometimes a low key, go with the flow trip is perfect.
All the hyperplanning, hypervigilence is overwhelming. I read it here and it makes me wonder why, why, why? Having some sort of a plan is good but everyone is different. Don't worry that you're just not going to worry about it at all. It'll all work out. You'll have fun. You'll eat, you'll see great things.

Have a ball!!

We will end up at our favorites and I am sure we will also use the Tangaroa Terrace to fill in while we are at the DLH. Only three places I need to make ressies for so it should be fine. Thanks!

We walked up and made a same day reservation on a crowded Vet's Day weekend (which was also start of the Christams season). So I would imagine you could do it during a slow time.

I've eaten a meal at Holly Jolly. I had the roast beef sandwich. It was very tasty:thumbsup2

Pacific Warf Cafe is one of our must do's all the time. We like the broccoli cheddar soup and the kids snack pac. It comes with apple slices, yogurt, gold fish crackers, string cheese, and a kid's drink.

We have Jolly Holiday on our list of options. We just seem to gravitate to MK dining rather than DCA.
