July Demand and Waitlisting

Have a SSR 2 bed booked from 5th July to 12th July and was wondering whether demand dropped off after your 4th July holiday as far as getting a waitlist. Was considering putting in for BWV or even BC for the obvious easy access to Epcot/HS but was wondering if it's even worth trying and getting my hopes up

What is the harm in putting in a waitlist and seeing what happens?

There is no festival going on at EPCOT during that period so probably not a super high demand time for Beach Club or BoardWalk.

I'm not really sure why we get all these "what are the odds" posts. Waitlists are free and effortless to put in. Why not just do it?

Will do, was just thinking about managing my expectations I kind of assumed your colonial holiday would mean the parks would be very busy

You can't put in a waitlist for July yet unless you own at BCV or BWV. I would get on right at 7 months and try to modify your SSR to one of the two. July tends to be better with availability in my experience.

Yeah, realise I can’t do it until December, have a note on the calendar. Good to hear that July might be good for a waitlist. We usually do a Treehouse but they’re getting quite tired and not all of them had been refurbished last time we visited

What do you mean by modify SSR btw, when I’ve done a waitlist in the past it asks which booking you want to change when you put the waitlist in

Modify your SSR reservation on the morning of the 7 month window and see what is available. It may be that Beach Club has availability and you don't need a waitlist, who knows! There is a lot of shuffling that happens at the 7 month mark.

Exponentially better chance with a 1 bedroom.

8 consecutive days is probably unlikely, always a chance for a split stay.

Understand this one as it’s to do with all the units being lock-offs. Unfortunately our 18 & 14 year old boys probably wouldn’t want to share a pull out

I agree with above that you might find availability when your 7 month window opens. BCV dedicated 2BR is more likely than a BWV 2BR, because there are no dedicated 2BR at BWV. But in any case when my 7 month window opened, I'd open my SSR reservation, click Modify, and then click on 2BR, then click BCV and BWV (or let it check all WDW resorts, if you have enough points for 2BR everywhere). Click Check Availability and see what pops up. If nothing shows, then put in a WL for BCV dedicated 2BR and for either BCV or BWV lockoff 2BR. (I'd probably put in for BWV P/G view 2BR - there are more of those, so more likely to fill.) You have nothing to lose by putting in a WL!
