Can't get DDP

Just booked a trip to WDW from 12/21-12/25. I received a 34% hotel discount at Coronado for having an annual pass. Because I received this discount, they told me I could not get DDP unless I wanted to pay a premium price. That doesn't sound right but they make the rules. Does anyone know about this?

That is correct. In order to participate in the DDP you have to pay Rack Rate (full price) for your room, and buy a minimum of 2 day tickets per person for everyone in the room. It is a package deal and these are the conditions of the package. You can not use an AP room discount and the Magic Your Way package. It is one or the other

I think you're both confusing one thing. You can only get the FREE dining promotion if you pay full price for your room. Using an AP discount, you can PAY FOR the DDP. Because you'd be buying it with an AP package you don't need to purchase any park tickets.

pistonfan32, did the CM explain what premium price she was referring to? The dates you're referring to are in the premium period where you would have to pay more for the DDP than you would other times of year. In December, the premium dates begin 12/17 and run through the end of the year. Instead of paying the value price of $41.99pp/night you'd have to pay $46.99pp/night.

Yup, we are going 12/18 - 12/26 on AP room discount. We added the QSDP at the regular price. Remember that if you get the reg DP, you'll be paying the holiday rate of the dining plan. Our discount worked out the same basically between QSDP & Room discount or Rack Rate + Free DDP (but we would have a $600 ticket investment towards a future pass renewal on Free DDP). Plus we didn't want DDP, just QSDP, so it was better with the AP room discount.

This is for FREE dining.

If the OP is using an annual passholder discount, they should call back and ask if they are eligible for a ticketless package for annual passholders. They can then pay for a dining plan.

There isn't any way they can get a room discount and FREE dining, if they were looking to get it free.

It's possible the person they spoke to assumed they wanted free dining.

Traveling during that time, you would have to pay the "peak" rate for the basic dining plan, which may be why they mentioned "premium" prices. (There is no peak rate for the quick service or deluxe dining plan).

I was not asking about free ddp. I was told by 3 different people at Disney that I can't combine a room that I got a discount on with my annual pass along with ddp at the cost of $46.99 per day. I can pay full price for the room or use some other lesser discount if I want ddp. Their thought pattern must be that ddp is discounted. The room discount is better than ddp so I will move on.

You can definitely get the dining plan. We have an annual pass and when we book a discounted room with our pass, we always get the dining plan. They just have to book your room differently (I think they call it a package plan or something like that). All it does is allow them to add the dining plan onto the discounted room rate. Yes you will have to pay the higher dining plan cost because it's in the premium season, but you can still get it.

We also booked a discounted room and added DDP to it..go to passholder site to book the package

You can definitely pay for the DDP while using an AP discount on your room. We did it Oct 9th-17th. I got 35% off the room with my AP and then paid $41.99/pp/night for the DDP. I'm doing a split stay Dec 9th-17th and am getting 35% off at CSR and 40% off at the BC, while paying $71.99/night for the DxDDP.

Thanks for everyone's help. I will call back and try again. Now I really have to decide if $46.99 is worth it.

Not sure what you are asking for or what discounted rate you are using. But you CAN get a ticketless package with an AP rate. It's possible there are none available for your resort and dates though.

I think the CM was correct. I know that if you book using a CM discount, or friends and family CM discount then you cannot get the dining plan. Also, I tried to book a "room only" reservation, and it would not allow me to add on the DDP, but it would tickets.

This is not true, my fiancee works for disney and we go quite often using her CM discount and we get the dining plan everytime sometimes even with 50% off the dining plan depending on what time of year. To the OP yes you can get the dining plan with your package. If they keep tell you no then ask to speak to a higher level.

As mentioned, the OP is wanting an WDTC AP ticketless package with dining.
And it could be an availability issue on the specific resort and room type they have.
The OP may want to see if looking at different resorts or room types makes a difference.
If they are traveling in the higher cost time frame, then yes, a dining plan does cost more during other dates.
They are probably wanting to go from a room only booking to a WDTC dine package.
That would mean a cancellation of the room only res and booking the package.
