CAN'T EXCHANGE DISNEY BUCKS FOR REWARDS CARD $$ !?!? Anyone?

This is our 3rd trip to WDW. After #1, I decided to get a Disney Visa.
Trip #2 - Cashed out a good bit of Disney dollars as well as using my Rewards card. Great Success
Trip #3 JUST got home! Days 1 & 2, I visited City Hall and redeemed $50 on each of 2 cards several times throughout the day (we had $800 to spend in 3 days and it was 3 of us, so I wanted to make sure everyone had enough money to go around.). I think the total of Disney Dollars we cashed out of the rewards card was somewhere in the area of $500 the first two days.
Yesterday afternoon, I visit City Hall for the last time to cash out my dollars and head to Epcot for our last evening. CM#1: "We don't cash out Disney Dollars from rewards cards." My response: "I've been here for 3 days and have made at least 5 trips and received $50 each card each visit." She went to check with a higher CM. Same responses from him, and mine as well. He went to speak with his manager and his manager came out. "We don't exchange Disney Dollars for rewards card balances." My response was the same. CMMgr: "That is like a cash advance and we have never done that the 4 years I've been here." I was highly aggravated because this is the MOST bizarre thing that's ever happened to me in Disney. Nope. Wouldn't do it.
So Officially: You can NOT redeem Disney Visa Rewards Dollars off your card for Disney Dollars.
Am I going CRAZY!?!?!

Correct...by rules you cannot exchange your Disney Rewards for Disney Dollars or Gift Cards. Disney Rewards expire, where dollars and gift cards do. So you are skirting the rule of the rewards expiring if you use them to pay for another form a Disney tender.

Now that being said it doesn't mean you won't find a CM who will do it for you. Some don't care and just do it, some have no clue, some follow the rules... you never know who you will encounter.

In fact, you CAN use your rewards card to buy Disney gift cards. You CANNOT use your rewards card to buy Disney dollars, because those are like cash and, according to the rules of the rewards program, you can't exchange reward dollars for cash or cash equivalent.

Yep, you can do that! You could also use the card to pay your tips at the dining location, if you didn't want to take the step of charging to your room first.

The information is NOT INCORRECT, at The Disney Store, you can not
purchase gift cards with rewards cards, and if you have done it, you can not do it anymore.

I'd advise anyone wishing to purchase the Disney gift card with their rewards to check with their local Disney Store or with Disney Store corporate guest service for the most current information.
