So my family and I are planning a trip to Orlando this March. They all LOVE roller coasters, and I can't do them at all, the drops kill me. I went a couple of years ago and was told the Aerosmith roller coaster wasn't bad so I tried it and screamed the entire ride... NEVER AGAIN!!!

With that being said, simulation rides like Star Tours at Hollywood Studios was AMAZING! At Animal Kingdom there is that Dinosaur ride that has a small drop... I thought it was great. At Epcot Mission: Space where it rotates to simulate blast off and drops was GREAT. But if it has actual drops I CAN'T do it.

I remember when I was a kid Universal Studios was mostly the simulation rides, Jaws, King Kong, Earthquake, Back to the Future, etc. and I loved every second of it. Is there an easy way to tell which rides I should avoid when we go? We will have a baby, so I will GLADLY stay off the big rides and watch the baby.

I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan so i know a good portion of my time will be spent there, but I don't want to hang out there the entire time and not with my family =\Thanks everyone in advance!!!

P.S. Not sure if this matters but I won't be at their resort, but will have a park hopper so I can take the Hogwarts Express

Look at the parks and read about all the rides in them

That will be the best way for you to decide what you feel you can ride

The coasters you said you will avoid but don't know if any of the other rides will be an issue for you

Mib is a fun ride but has a portion twice during the ride of fast spinning
Not sure if that would bother you

My wife doesn't like being dropped either so either so she would wait in line with our group and at the end when they are loading you into cars and ask how large your party is, we would tell them that she isn't going on the ride and meet her at the area where we exit the ride.

I know the obvious roller coaster looking rides to avoid. But it's the ones that are in buildings, where you can't see the track that I need help with. Carnival style rides are fine, spinning I can do, it's just the drops. i know at Disney they have boards that show what features the ride has (big drops and small drops) if it shows small drops so far i can do it, but if it shows big drops nope.

Oh yea I don't mind waiting in line with them, its just getting on the actual ride.

The Mummy and Gringotts have what I would consider indoor drops. Forbidden journey yanks you around a lot but I don't remember actually dropping (there is one simulation scene near the end when you fly over the lake that surprised me with vertigo).

I am impressed that you lived through RnR. I can't do rollercoasters either and I figure I would have a heart attack and die on a bigger one. And I also LOVE Dinosaur. The only coaster I can do is Barnstormer at Disney (and that makes me scream). I've been trying to decide if I can manage Gringotts when we visit in September. The other week I survived the baby coaster at Six Flags so I'm going to give Gringotts a try. Can you mange the drop on (The old) Maelstrom or Pirates of the Caribbean?

So at Universal/IOA the only rides that I can think of that are coaster like-that you can't see from the outside -are The Mummy and Gringotts (from what I hear). The Mummy is described as intense but my son (who doesn't do big coasters) loved it.

Obviously The Jurassic Park ride has a big drop (but you can easily see that).

Men In Black spins but doesn't drop.

The rides like Spiderman and Transformers simulate a fall but it isn't real (these made me feel sick but I never felt much of a drop-they are more rough and swing you around like Dinosaur+the 3D effects).

Minions and Simpsons are simulators sort of like Star Tours

Forbidden Journey has seats on a big arm that moves along a track. It can dip and tilt etc. but I don' think it has coaster like drops.

ET is very tame

Can't think of any other indoor ones off the top of my head. But as suggested above...walking through and exiting is a nice way to see the interior and enjoy the AC without having to ride.

I think the drop in Gringott's is minimal. Just a little longer than the drop in Pirates. It's over before you know it. If you can do barnstormer you will have no issues with Gringott's. If you sit in the front, I think the drop is even shorter (can someone confirm or refite that?). Gringott's is a *phenomenal* ride. I would do it!!

I have autonomic dysfunction and i can no longer do roller coasters.
besides the coasters at universal and islands i have issues with the mummy 75% of the time i ride it... im probably done riding it unfortunately unless i feel 100% perfect that day.. and thats rare.
The simpsons ride i have issues probably 25% of the time.
Ive rarely had any issues on any of the other rides.
Both of the main potter rides in both parks have given me minor issues here and there.
Nothing to get crazy about.
for some reason.. as long as i hold my breathe during the drops in the other rides im good.

Hopefully that helps and gives you an idea.

p.s. i felt like i was going to DIE after i got off the dinosaur ride at animal kingdom.
Im not sure what it was about that ride, but i felt like i was going to have to go to the e.r.
i felt really good that day and had plans to even try Everest for the first time.
i did the dicey rides at the end of the day and dinosaur put me wwaayy over the edge.

I love roller coasters and I have to say I would never go on Dinosaur at Disney again. I felt like I was being jerked all over the place. I would take a terrifying roller coaster over that.

I am drop-averse and hated the one on Gringotts. It is quite swift and in the dark so you have no way to determine, as you are dropping, when it will be over. Gringotts was amazing and worth the suffering of the drop (for me), but I despised that part of the ride. I despise drops in general, though.

I found the drop on Gringotts MUCH worse than the one on Pirates. They don't even compare. Gringotts is sharper, faster, and longer......and totally in the dark.

I say if you cannot do coasters, I would recommend that you should at least do Gringott's. For the most part, you are moving on a track going scene to scene as it's mainly 3D imagery. There are only really two "roller coaster" portions of the ride (both in complete darkness) and both literally lasts between 6-7 seconds. I've counted, as I was curious as to how long it lasted since it seemed to go so quickly.

And honestly, the most intimidating portion of the ride is the beginning, in which the track and ride vehicle suddenly tilts a little downward and you stay in that potion for a moment before go down. However, it's strictly for intimidation purposes. As I, myself, am not a fan of drops (however I deal with them and go on such coasters anyway) and noticed that the minute you disappear into the darkness, it doesn't actually drop and moves into another direction. Considering I sit in the back (as I need modified seating), I would think if you sat in the front row you probably wouldn't even feel anything.

If you survived RnR, Gringott's would be a cake walk. It doesn't have dramatic drops. I've always stated on here that this is the ride (IMO) is for anyone who is afraid of coasters, or unsure of them if they want an introduction to them, due to the roller coaster portions being mild in comparison to other coasters and the shortness of the duration of the roller coaster portions.
