Just stayed at POR this year & loved it & definately want to go back. It was just DH & I. This next trip will be us, plus sister, bro in law, & my niece & nephew. They stayed at POP last year & loved it. Do we spend the extra money & maybe not spend as much time at POR because we are traveling with others & a day trip to visit some other family might be included? Or do we try something new & go to POP? I'm afraid that when I go have my sweet potato pancakes at Boatwrights I'm going to be sorry I didn't stay there. Pop looks nice enough, it's just that DH & I really enjoy a resort that is quiet & pretty & with stuff to do. Don't think sister's family will stay at POR as they feel POP is more kid friendly. Sometimes I make a decision & then I waver again. I think the price difference between the two resorts would be about $400. What to do?

boy this is a popular question tonight.

I would go with Pop if you want to be close to your DS.

Pop is cute it might surprise you.

Now I definitely understand not wanting to be close to your DS.

my family and I get along much better in different resorts.

Will you have a car? What time of year are going? And will you generally be touring the parks with your DS's family? The answer's to these questions would probably drive my decision - assuming the cost differential is not that big a deal for you (of course its always nice to spend less rather than more).

We will be going in May, we will definately have a car, & we will try to do some park stuff together. Meals are another story since they don't really like sit downs & we do-see what happens with the changes to DDP. Of course it's nice to spend less then more, but I have the money for next years trip, so I don't think that is really part of the issue. If we have to do an outside trip to visit other family, yes I guess it would be nice to know I spent less $ if I'm spending less time. Don't think DH wants POP at all. Don't know what to say to change his mind. While I loved POR too, I would be fine at POP...I think!!

From everything that you've written so far, I have to say that I think that you would enjoy POR more, especially since you have the $ and enjoyed it last time. If you want a resort-like vacation and the chance to spend some alone time from family, it seems like a good idea.

We did a night at POP and have stayed at the All-Stars a few times, but prefer POR's atmosphere- quieter, nice for walks, quiet pools etc... Have you considered a night or 2 at POP and transfer to POR? That might give you family time and save a few dollars if you don't mind switiching resorts. Nothing against POP, but we prefer it when we plan on doing more park time, and like the moderate + resorts for more pool, relaxation, vacation time.

Having a car, and $$$ not being the driving consideration, I would go to POR if I were you. Especially if you are going in later May, when it will be busier and thus louder at POP.

Also, given that your DS's family prefers counter-serive meals, they will probably be much more willing to eat more meals at the POP counter restaraunt than you might.

But reading your post - You are going back to POR - this is fine, you will be able to visit each others resorts and enjoy (ignore people that freak out over such thoughts - if you inform the resort staff, they will tell you its fine).

They will enjoy the pop and you will enjoy POR and all will be as it should be!
