crowd wise, will there be a big difference between oct 11-18 & oct. 20-29? thanks :)

Not sure if this is this will help with crowd question but I tried to book a room from the 21st-27th of Oct. and there was ZERO room availability in Deluxes and Moderates.

HTH

Yes the first period will be busier, its more in the middle of the month and popular fall break time espically around Columbus Day. That is also why WDW has blacked it out from Free dining. The expected crowds levels and resort occupancy rate are at a level they are happy with so they didn't offer a 'deal' during that time.

I would also check into rooms, as PP said they are limited but I'm not sure what's going on with the dates PP checked I just checked for a client yesterday and found some stuff in that range for free dining. @MickeyFliers did you look under promo rates or just rack rates?

Checked regular rack rates for 10/21-27. No availability in Deluxe or Moderate category....except for cabins.

Not sure what is going on that week.

The Garter Symposium is begins sometime around Oct. 21. It's a big IT conference and the attendees are staying at the Epcot resorts. Also F & W is going on. We will be there during that time. I rented points in March through a DVC member and we had a tough time but ended up with a room at BLT. We wanted Epcot area but that wasn't going to happen.

looks like the 21st is the issue it seems to be full at most resorts. AKL has a little availbaility that week in the villas. Must be alot coming back in on the 19th for Free dining.

have you checked to see if there is free dining? We are going oct 24th and getting free dining

I agree with a PP: 11-18th will be busier, as it was blacked out from free dining.

The next week may be booked up more from the conference going on, but the parks will be lighter that week, or that's my understanding anyway. :)

We are going October 25-31st. We were switching between that week and the 18th-24th. We wanted to stay at Boardwalk and there was no availabilty for 18th-24th (PP has mentioned a convention.. so that explains it!) So we decided on the 25th-31st.

In 2008, we went over Columbus Day weekend and it was busy and hot.. We are hoping this year will be a little nicer ! :)

thanks for the advice! i am having a hard time finding rooms for the second set of dates :(

I saw on another post somewhere that a lot of those rooms are being held in a block for the conference and that they need to be booked by the end of the month or they will be released to the public.

thanks for letting me know, I have to book using our dvc timeshare, do you think it's the same situation with that? this is my first time using the timeshare so I wasn't sure....
