Can't Decide on Hotel

It's been a few years since our last Desert Inn visit but I do remember the beds being not so great. I have rheumatoid arthritis so a comfortable bed is a plus for me, for sure.

We've stayed at the CCI (last time in 2018). I don't remember noise being an issue at all. The grounds are nice and the foliage around the pool disguises that it's in the middle of the parking lot. I have no real complaints about it but I hate relying on shuttles. CCI is on the same "block" as disneyland but it's loooong after a full day of walking in the parks so we DID use the shuttle but walked back maybe two of the nights because waiting for a shuttle is awful.

Right, I'm just saying, in comparison to the Desert Inn, which is about a short as walk as you can get, I'd rather just stay there and walk across the street.
Is desert inn the closest hotel within walking distance to Disneyland or just or just of the 2 being discussed?

Technically the Park Vue is a tiny bit closer, but they are right next to each other so basically no difference. The Candy Cane, the other being discussed, is further down the street, so a bit longer of a walk, maybe 10 minutes if you're ambling or pushing strollers.

Not at all. I emailed to ask if they would be bringing it back and they basically just said "Sorry, we don't have breakfast" so I'm guessing that means it won't come back. Apparently their laundry room is also closed so that's kind of a bummer and might effect my decision if it doesn't reopen.
Wow, that's too bad, I wonder why? Last time we stayed there, we really enjoyed breakfasting out on that balcony area. Staying at any hotel there for a week, those breakfasts save a lot of money, glad we're staying at the Del Sol.

Just the ones we're considering. There are several that are close to the crosswalk - Park Vue, Desert Inn, and Best Western Park Place Inn and Suites are the 3 closest, I think.

I'm guessing they got rid of it due to covid and then just decided it wasn't worth it to bring it back maybe? At Desert Inn we typically just eat cereal and things purchased from Target ahead of time. But I might make my husband run down to that little shop at the Tropicana to get me a pastry or something.

That's your video? Awesome! I just watched it yesterday and it made me really like the room even if it is on the small side.

I was thinking of hanging one of these plus some shirts in the closet. It's about 1 foot wide. We want to use it to put our shorts on and maybe snacks or other odds and ends we can't find room for.

Another question - are there towels available by the pool or do we need to bring some down?

haha. Yep, that’s us! Pretty sure that would fit with hanging clothes.I wonder if it would also work to hang off of the bunk bed? That was one of our earlier videos and we have learned now to film the room better!

We did not use the pool when we stayed. We stayed on opening weekend of Disneyland last year, so we spent as much time at the parks as possible!

The beds were much more comfortable at Park Vue than at Desert Inn. ☺️

Man I've been kicking around what hotel to stay at as well. I currently have reservations at both the Anaheim Desert Inn with a Parlor Suite and the Best Western Anaheim Inn, for the last week of June.

I really like the extra space that the ADI has, but the reports of the beds being super uncomfortable are kind of worrying. Last thing I need after being in the park all day for 5 days is back pain when sleeping.

The BWAI hopefully has more comfortable beds, as well as a hot breakfast. Price is about $15 more a night, and that's entirely the new parking fee. The room though is definitely smaller from looking at it and that's a bit worrying for 4 of us for 6 nights. But with all day in the park hopefully it wouldn't really matter.

I was considering the Candy Cane Inn too, but with it being further, about the same size rooms and price, and a more continental breakfast I'm not sure it was worth picking over the Best Western.

I've spent so much time trying to figure this out, but with an 8 year old and a 5 year old I'm not sure I could get them to walk any further than right across Harbor after a whole day in the park.

Anyway, just to confirm, are the beds at BWAI comfortable? And by comfortable I mean somewhat soft and not like sleeping on a board.

Is the Best Western you're talking about the one next to Denny's on Harbor? Has that always been a Best Western? I feel like it was something else a few years ago but maybe I am losing my mind.

Yep the one next to Denny's. I know there are two on Harbor - the BWPPI with mini suites is totally booked for that week, but I was able to get a reservation for the Anaheim Inn. Both are super well reviewed but just thought I'd get some ideas from folks here with regards to the extra space vs the bed comfort/general feeling of the motel.

My sister didn’t like it quite as much as BWPPI. But it would get an extra star compared to desert inn.

Also, try calling BWPPI. I’ve had success with that when they appeared full online.

Yeah, I recently looked at BWPPI as well and saw it was booked. We are also going at the end of June.

Right now, I think I'm leaning toward the small room at Park Vue over our usual parlor suite at Desert Inn. I guess if we hate it and feel cramped, we'll know for next time! But honestly, it's bigger than our camper so hopefully it won't be too bad. We plan to be in the parks most of the day except for an afternoon break. Since it's an outdoor pool, our son might want to swim this time so that would be nice too.

I'm getting excited. Just 3 months to go! We've been planning this for literally years since we were meant to go in June 2020.
