Can't decide if ds should ride Star Tours and Soarin' or not

I get car sick (I'm usually ok if I sit in the front seat and look out the window the whole time); and DD gets both car and plane sick (we have to give her Dramamine and carry sickness bags with us). I've never had any problems at all on Soarin', but ST made me feel nauseated for about an hour after riding. (ST is the only Disney ride I've ever had a problem on, including Mission:Space, RRC, etc.) DD is finally tall enough to ride these, and we plan on giving her Dramamine and making sure the sickness bags are handy, just in case.

Soarin' has never bothered me at all. Star Tours I do get nauseated on at times. Last trip my son wanted to ride it back to back and I was so sick from that so I think once is my limit. I am going to try seabands this next time though to see if they might help a bit.

I'm prone to motion sickness in just about any mode of transportation there is but I can ride Soarin without a problem. I dearly love ST, but it can do me in very quickly. Now I take a Bonine (nondrowsy Dramamine) in the morning before we go to DHS and I'm fine. Your son should be old enough to take it. Best of luck. They're both great rides.

LOL! I think that's what I'm going to do with Star Tours. I just moved our plans around a bit, and switched it to the last thing we'll do before we leave the park for the day.

It sounds like Soarin' isn't as much of an issue, so we'll keep that one where it is.

Thanks everyone!

May I make one suggestion, just in case. When you ride Soarin', ask to be on the back row. This will actually be the lowest row when you go up, so if he does get sick, at least there's no one below him. You'll have some feet dangling in your upper view, but they will thank you if he does.

DH does not do thrill rides. His FAVORITE ride is Soarin'! He will occasionally ride ST (I think he tries to convince himself that it's not too bad), but he doesn't really like it, and he told me last time he just closed his eyes. That's as crazy as he gets with rides:)

Mission Space ruined a day for me at WDW once. It made me so sick. Star Tours made me sick too. I just closed my eyes and concentrated on breathing am I was ok. Soarin is no problem for me. Last visit my dd rode after a breakfast buffet and she threw up. I think it was more food related though. I would ride right after meal and make sure you are hydrated.

I don't get motion sickness in general. Soarin is no problem its just so gentle. Star Tours gives me extreme anxiety, I don't feel sick but it makes me feel very hot and sweaty and generally uneasy

I have no trouble on Soarin' but Mission Space and Star Tours make me a little woozy. My limit on Forbidden Journey is !!

This won't help in the case of your son, I'm guessing, but I usually get over the Mission: Space-induced dizziness with a beer from World Showcase :)

My girlfriend has extreme motion sickness (short car rides will do her in). When we go to the parks, she wears "SeaBands" which is little wristbands with pressure points on the wrists. It may look silly, but it works. Her favorite ride is Soarin' (after Peter Pan of course) and she is absolutely fine on that. Star Tours stills gives her a bit of the sickness though. Everest and Space Mountain are the worst on her, and we never tried Mission Space.

Wrap it Up: Soarin' will be fine. The only time he may feel a bit of motion is when it tips back SLIGHTLY to give the effect you are speeding up. Star Tours may be a problem though. Exercise caution on that one.

i get VERY motion sickness just like your family in cars and boats. I can do Soarin no problem. I can do star tours, but i do feel a little funny after but just for a short time. I have done it like 5 times in my life (of the 25 disney trips i have taken) and its a super cool ride, especially if you love star wars, but i cant do it more than once or i get really really sick.
