Can't decide between Deluxe Resorts

We are considering a Disney Vacation in the next 6 months and am torn between the deluxe resorts. We really liked the Poly when we have stayed there in the past but I would also like to try AKL. What would you do?

I visited and dined at AKL on my last trip (solo!). I loved the interior but I did not like the look of the animal viewing area. I'm not sure why. It just looked dusty and not "full" enough. That said, there are the animals to view and the landscape is suited to them.

I have also visited and dined at the Poly. I think I like the location of this better BUT isn't AKL a better value?

It is a pleasant dilemma to be faced with!

We like the Contemp rooms the best, BC pool best, Boardwalk resort area best, Dolphin for price and location. Those are the 4 deluxes we have stayed at. If going in the summer it has to be BC for the pool, the kids would insist. We like staying in the Epcot area the best, can't beat walking to Epcot and MGM.

Have you considered splitting your stay? AKL and Poly are my two favorite resorts. DH and I really liked the fact that AKL seemed so secluded from the rest of DW - like two vacations really - Disney World and then this fabulous, exotic, quiet resort. The Poly - well, it is just vacation to me - mainly because that's where I always stayed with my parents when I was younger. The smell of the lobby - yum! My sis and I stayed at GF over Christmas and when we went to the Poly for a dinner reservation she said, "It smells like vacation here!" Disney will move all of your luggage - I've always found it to be completely hassle free. The rooms at the Poly are bigger, but I think the dining options at AKL are better. I loved both pools. What a fun choice!

Have you ever been to AKL to eat or visit? If not, I would do split stay or stick with the Poly. I also like all of the Epcot area resorts. You can walk to two parks. You might not like being so isolated at AKL.
