Hi! We are going in Oct to the first time with APs and staying off property. We have always charged to the room, but what now? Do you use a regular credit card to pay? Or can you link a card to a magic band if you're not stay on on property? What do you do if you don't want to carry that much cash but don't want to use your regular card? Is there some type of gift card you can load and use yo pay for dining, etc? So many new questions! Thank you for your help!

You have to use whatever you would
Ordinarily use to spend money outside of Disney. So credit card, cash, gift card, etc.

Yes regular cc or cash. We stayed offsite last trip and we loaded a disney gift card and carried that with us. We got one at blizzard beach that had it on a plastic wrist band that was convenient to have

You currently have to be staying onsite for band charging privileges.

You'll have to use cash or CC.

Disney gift cards are accepted as well.

Can a Disney gift card be used at all restaurants? Even TS at resorts?
As long as they are Disney Resorts, they will accept the gift cards.

Swan and Dolphin restaurants do not accept Disney gift cards.

Even though I stay onsite, I have been buying gift cards and using them rather than room charge. My local grocery store gives fuel perks, I look out for double perks promotions and buy then. Right now the Chase Freedom card is giving 5% back for grocery store purchases, so I get that too.

I highly recommend the gift cards! I always carry some for the kids on the trips.

Since you're going in October, if you want to use gift cards you could get the wristband gift cards that they have available at Food and Wine festival.

Definitely agree with this! Kroger offers the fuel perks and if you have a Target Red Card, you get a 5% discount. I believe people have also mentioned that Sam's offers them at a discount.

We like to use gift cards because it helps us realize how much we've spent and what we have left. Each time you use it, you get a receipt that tells you how much is left. We give them to the kids for their spending money too.

Last time, my husband used his lanyard punch to punch a hole on one side of the gift cards (making sure not to punch through the magnetic strip part) and we clipped them on everyone's lanyards. We've done both this and the wrist cards and found the lanyard ones more secure and comfortable. I also got each of the kids a gift card with their favorite character so it doubled as a lanyard anchor decoration. ;)

I took a thin sharpie with us so I could write the balance remaining on the card. Made it easier to keep track on the go.

I believe it's only available for iOS, there is a Disney Gift Card app where you can load the gift card numbers to keep track of the balances. I take a sharpie and number them to identify them with the app.
