Can't buy the pin, unless I do the attraction.

I was just wondering, if anyone else ot there has the same policy. I started this policy on my 2003 trip to WDW.

In order to buy a pin for a ride, I must ride the ride.

In order to buy a pin for a hotel, I must visit it.

In order to buy a pin for a restaurant, I must have eaten there.

You get the idea. I hedged a little on my last trip and purchased my Splash Mountain pin, and wore it on my first ride through the mountain.

The pins at WDW can become quite costly, so this keeps my cost down. I become quite proud of the ride pins that I have earned. Kali River Rapids, Dinosaur, Big Thunder Mountain and Test Track. (to name a few).

Does anyone else have similar pin buying policies? Or do you just buy the ones that you like? Curious.

My DH is the pin freak in our family . . .and that is his rule/policy. When we get back home from our WDW trips he goes to Michael's and gets shadow boxes and puts all our pins in there and hangs them up . . .

He gets the year of our visit pin
And any rides/attractions that we had gone on that haven't gone on yet
and our resort pin

He is already planning on doing two smaller shadow boxes because we are doing resort/cruise/resort. So he is dedicating one of them to the cruise portion.

Yep, we do the same thing. DH is very strict about this. We also get other pins just because we like them but rides/resorts/restaurants have to have been "done". Those pins bring back a lot of fun memories.

Our kids are into pins. On our last trip I used the Splash Mountain pin as an incentive to get DD-7 to ride the ride. She had this fear of "the drop" that she was having trouble overcoming. nowing that there was a pin waiting for her at the end of the ride did the trick (mwaaaa aaaaaaa hhhaaaaaa hhaa haa)

I only collect pins from the hotels that I've stayed at. I use them as tacks on my travel board where I keep all my reservation info, AP, etc..

On my up and coming trip in 2005, I can finally get a Beach Club pin, as we will be staying there for 3 of our 7 nights. I am hoping to be brave enough to do a few rides, that I have not done before. I am actually not too surprised that this policy is also used by others traveling to WDW.

My dh and I pick a new theme each year. For instance, last year we took two trips and every pin we purchased was Mickey related - either a picture of him, or the three-circle shape. This year, we're doing a recent movies theme, so we'll be getting Monsters Inc, Incredibles, and Toy Story pins. That's the only way I can keep dh from buying the entire store. Oh, but he did stipulate that you can always buy from previous years' themes. Yep, he knows how to get around the rules.

We use the pins as an incentive to get DS on the rides that hes not too sure of. When we got both DSs and my mother on Splash Mt last summer we just about had to buy out the store afterwards. Hoping for Space Mt next.

That is precisely our policy. Plus, we must like the attraction or resort "exceptionally". One exception we have made. By the time my DD8 rode BTMRR, there were no more pins available at WDW for that attraction. Also, never found one for the Tiki Birds, another favorite. At the Florida Strawberry Festival a pin vendor that had all types of pins had pins for both at DisneyLand. We have never been to DL but gought those anyway, as we felt that was justified exception.

Our regret is that we have never found pins for the TreeHouse or Ellen's Energy Adventure or the People Mover, all favorites. Our lanyards are incomplete without them

However, I'm not sure I have ever seen restaurant pins. I'd love to get some of those. Can anyone tell me what restaurant pins are available? (I can't look up the pin websites others have posted links to, as my computer here at work blocks access to those for some reason.)
