Can't book REAS yet???

I just booked our 5-6-06 Western Cruise and asked our TA to add on the REAS package. She told me the REAS package can't even be booked yet for 2006 and that she won't be able to book it until October. Is this correct? I've seen nothing, either in the brochure, website, or even the Passporter that says this. I just don't want her to forget to add it on later.

Thanks.

When we booked our 7/30/05 cruise in May of last year we couldn't book the REAS until November and it was because the pricing was going to go up...which sounds like the pricing is going to go up again :sad2: I could be wrong as I'm speculating based upon our experience. The going price when we booked our cruise was $299...when they released the pricing in November for the 2005 cruises it went up to $339.

DCL only releases package add-ons for cruises in about October for the next calender year. They've currently only released the 2005 packages and like your TA said, they probably won't release pricing for the REAS until October or November of this year. Since no one can yet book the REAS, you're really not at a disadvantage at all. You can only pre-book your ressies about 3 months in advance anyway, so you wouldn't be able to book anything until 2006 anyway.

That is correct. The 2005 REAS packages were not released until November last year. It cannot be added and booked until Disney has the new packages for the following year in their system.

Don't worry, if/when they get the package details together for 2006 you will still be able to add it, even up to shortly before your cruise.

I guess I'll just have to wait. I hope the price doesn't go up. Those who have had this before....is it worth it if the price goes up?

IMO, the REAS was worth it when it was $299, but now that it's gone up to $339 and probably will go up for 2006, I don't think it's worth it. Now, when we did it, we paid $299. We did the massage, which would have cost us $242 if we had booked it on board, and included the Palo surcharge for 2 of $20. So, for us we only paid about $30 or so more the ability to pre-book our appointments and Palo. DH and I don't like champagne so, we didn't drink the bottle we got as part of the welcome amenity. Also, the breakfast in the room wasn't all that great, since by the time it makes it to the room, the food was somewhat luke. I like the breakfast up at Topsiders MUCH better, and when we ordered room service, the continental service was just perfect. There were TOO MANY plates from the full breakfast, since we ordered for 4 people. We're not booking it for our 2005 cruise and won't book it for our 2006 cruise. I'll just make reservations once we board. DCL only sets aside a small percentage of all the spa appointments and PALO ressies anyway for pre-booking, so if I'm on board rather early, I don't think I'll have a problem getting what I want.
