Hi -- We just bought at SSR last October 2003. Now we're finally ready to book our first DVC vacation (though, not at WDW--that'll be next year). I tried to book our vacation for a studio room for four nights at HH (Mon-Thurs), however, the DVC rep stated that the resort has NOTHING available for Mon-Thurs starting in June through the end of August!!! This is our first time booking a DVC vacation, and now I'm 'really' bummed...I did ask to be put on a wait list for every Mon-Thurs for the three months we're looking at. What else can I do???? Is this typical that if you wait too long you can't book when you want; I can understand not getting the exact dates you may want, but I can't get ANY dates (except for Fri-Sat) for 3 months !! Is there a chance a rooms (ie, a studio) will open up for 4 nights during Jun-July-August ?? Any and all help would be appreciated !

That is the busy season for HH, and you are looking well after the seven month window opened up. Also, there are limited studios and one bedrooms, many more two bedrooms. Good luck.

I'd say that this is normal for an HHI studio during the summer. This is HHI's prime season, plus HHI has very few studios in the first place (it's mostly 2BRs). But I don't think this is typical of DVC as a whole. I've had no problems getting a WDW reservation a few months ahead of time, although I'm sure December would pose some problems.

You can always hope that the waitlist will come through for you, but it's doubtful I think.

As the previous posters stated to get a studio or 1 bedroom at less than 7 months is next to impossible at HH. For this reason we did a 100 point add-on at HH to have the 11 month window. Good luck on the waitlist.

I have been trying to switch my HH studio ressie (Sun - Fri) from mid- Aug to end of Aug.

I put myself on a wait list in early March and was called a week later about a 1br in the time frame I wanted. I turned it down since I don't have enough points.

So my feeling is you will probably get a call.

Out of curiosity, let us know if/when it comes through.

Good luck.

I would definitley go on the waiting list. Summer is a really hard time to get HHI even at 7 months out. We purchased add-on points at HHi just to get 11 month reservations! That said, we have never had a problem with the holidays (done that 3 times) or September-October. We managed to snag a sun-thurs in April at 7 months, but that is also a busy time. By the way, its a wonderful resort!

Hi,

If you are flexible, it is possible that you might get something, but I would actually not hold out hope. I am not trying to be mean, but rather realistic. I booked one night in July last year and got the last studio (there was one 1BR available at the time) first thing in the morning EXACTLY at the seven month window. Three months ahead we went on the waiting list for a 1BR and never got called (though I called several times). As other have said, there are VERY few studios at Hilton Head and they go quickly. If you were only looking for one night or two nights, I would think you might luck out, but trying to get 4 or 5 consecutive nights inside the seven month window I think will border on a miracle. I hope I am wrong, but I don't want to give you false hopes based on past experiences that have been reported and my own experience.

We booked a 2BR at the 7 mo window for HHI. I called about a week ago to try to change it to the last week but was told there was nothing available. Good Luck

I got a studio at 4 months out for Sun thru Wed nights the end of May. I had tried for June-July but nothing was available. To tell you the truth, I was even suprised I got the end of May. MS put me on hold for a good 5 min and told me something opened up. I must have just called at the right time.
Good luck....hope something comes through for you.

You might want to consider going on a day-by-day waitlist for your prime week. That way, as individual days become available you can reserve them (rather than waiting for the whole block to open up at once). Of course, this is a bit of a gamble that eventually they will all come together but it increases the odds of getting what you want.

Many HHI owners bought to reserve the summer months and do so right at the 11 month window. In most cases, those plans will stay firm until shortly before the trip is set to start -- then circumstances may cause some members to cancel. At the 31-day mark, you may find some cancellations coming through when people have to commit or face a holding account penalty.

As mentioned, HHI is not that big and the number of studios is even more limited. Booking at WDW you have the luxury of 5 different resorts with many studio options so chances of getting something are much greater.

We wanted to go down for our anniversary in June and I literally would accept ANY 4 day period. I could get weekend nights, but no weekdays. We finally found a ressie that would have Friday through Sunday nights and grabbed it! Went on waitlist for 1 extra day and still nothing available. Have been on waitlist about 6 weeks. This is for a 1 bedroom.

We're excited to go, of course, but it's obvious that HHI is a prime example of "buy where you want to stay"!!

Wow! I feel really lucky now. I booked 4 nights in 2 studios for Mon-Thur in late June. I called day-by-day at EXACTLY the 7 month mark. We cant wait! Here's pixie dust to help your waitlist come thru!
