I got a call from England from the owner of the house we were supposed to be renting saying that the house was no longer available for our dates!!??!! :earseek: I was STUNNED :confused3 to say the least especially since I had just sent in our final payment a few days before. I called and stopped payment on the check and asked the rental manager to return the one I sent and my deposit. Thankfully it had not been received or cashed since I now need this money to pay for my new booking. They did offer 2 other homes that we could switch to that their friends owned, but I am just tired of dealing with this. I have had a bit of communication problems with the owner and was already leary of this so maybe it worked out for the best. Jan (JANNYANS) had helped me investigate a bit into this matter- and thanks again Jan- and I thought everything was resolved. The owner said that he had put the house up for sale and that it sold on the second day and they werent expecting it to sell that quickly. Well, I had put a deposit on this home MONTHS ago and have spoken to them recently and never a word about this possible happening. I was so SHOCKED as I thought I had everything done and taken care of. Well, I called Disney and got the new room/ticket promotion they just released so now we have 2 rooms booked at POP. :cool1: Im just glad they had our dates available especially since we were getting into Orlando on Nov. 25th and I figured it would be booked because of Thanksgiving. I am just glad to be dealing with Disney at this point. We always prefer to stay on property, but with such a large party we decided to check out a private home this time. Dont know if I will try that option again with the luck we have had. I know there are many home owners that are not like what I have had to deal with. What a headache this has been. :confused3

I'm glad that POP had room for you and I'm sorry things didn't work out with the rental home. It sounds like things worked out for the best. I hope you have a great trip! We'll be getting to Orlando on 11/25 too -- staying at CPGV -- and we can't wait!!!!

:earseek: Most of the vacation homes in the Orlando area are owned by British investors. I'm sorry you had to deal with them as I've had the same happen to me several years ago. Next time, if I may suggest, try going through an American company located in America. I've used www.DoOrlando.com twice this past year and everything was perfect. Enjoy your trip!

I am sorry you have had to change your plans Missy but glad you have managed to sort alternative arrangements .Enjoy your vacation but don't give up on renting a home in the future .
Time4 orlando even american companies based in the states are not immune to problems they have bene known to let people down at the last minute too by closing their doors rather suddenly .The key is research and talking to people that have used whiche ever service you are considering .

Thanks everyone. Im sure things will go well and we are so looking forward to getting back to Disney!! Next time I need a rental home I will be coming to you, Jan, because you are so helpful and forthright. Again, I appreciate your help. Thanks, :dog: Missy

Thanks mbb,
I am sorry you were treated so shabby. I can not imagine why the person did not try to hook you up to the new owners. If that was the home you were looking for it could have gone smoothly. I know as an owner I would have appreciated the booking guest. I am glad everything worked out ok. Have a wonderful vaca. Isla Bonita
