Can't add park day or resort reservation onto start of trip

I made a reservation this past weekend for Coronado Tower from 07-11-21 until 07-18-21. 07-11-21 is the start of the 25% discount. I called as we decided to add a day onto our trip as I was able to get a great deal on Southwest.

The cast member said I could not add a day at the beginning as it would cancel out my 25 % discount. The 30% discount that ends 07-10-21 will not work as it would only be 30% off for one night, plus there is barely any availability.

I said fine, I will just buy points from someone and get a one night reservation at the start of our trip, no big deal. I asked to just add an 8th day to our park reservation. She said this was no longer possible. She said we could do that pre-covid by visiting guest services the day we arrived at the parks. But, now, due to the park reservation requirement, we cannot add a day.

Are we out of luck? No way around this? I don't want to purchase a one day ticket. Instead of an extra $100, we would pay an extra $500.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

I went on a last minute trip in March, busy spring break time. Monday DD calls and says Mom lets head down on Wednesday instead of Thursday. WHAT???? My dh said go ahead so we both scrambled and both of our airlines had cheap fares to change to. Then I had to add a single night. Found one.

However there were no park passes. Literally on the ride from the airport to the resort I kept hitting refresh and around 11am I secured 2 spots for us at MK. It is not ideal to lose part of morning but if you arriving later than rope drop if works.

I also added to DD to a trip dh and I had in January. Again I kept hitting refresh and eventually got her all the days we had. Lots of last minute cancels. It is a bit nerve racking lol.

Also they are reminding people about dining and park passes as dates approach so people can cancel if they forgot to .

Good Luck!

Disney won't sell you an 8th day ticket, if there are no park reservations available. You can keep watching park reservation availability and if you find some, then call back.

But I do have an 8th day. It won’t let me add it to the beginning of the trip (even though there is park availability) because our trip package starts the 11th, not the 10th.

I would book the first night somewhere you can get a discount. Then spend the day hanging out at that resort’s pool, maybe Disney Springs, mini golf or resort hop a bit. Next morning you can have bell services transfer your luggage & head out for an early start to your park of the day.

Maybe consider turning your CSR into a basic package (room only, but under package terms and conditions) or re-booking it as a room-only and then purchasing your 8-day tickets separately. It sounds like having the tickets attached to your package starting on the 11th is causing the issue.

Package tickets cannot be used prior to the package check-in date. If you want tickets that will begin prior to that, you will need to purchase tickets separately and just do a room-only reservation at the resort. That may or may not impact your current discount.

As for the room, since you are booked with a discount that starts on 7/11, they cannot add a night to the package for you to arrive prior. However you should have been able to book a reservation for a single night (if available). Then mark both reservations as "continuing" so you can hopefully stay in the same room.

That's correct the tickets have a specific start date and are currently part of the package that @DisneyFEB2013 already has in place.

If you want the tickets now to start on 7/10/2021 then you need to change your entire package or as @Marthasor suggested modifying your package to remove the tickets and purchasing new tickets making your existing package a basic package. You won't save much money on the tickets.

Make sure you purchase your new tickets and attach them to your MDE account before you drop your package tickets or you risk losing your Disney Park Pass reservations.

Note: Both offers were / are room only discounts so tickets were optional when you make it a package. You want to double check the terms of your package to verify that removing your tickets will not impact your rates.
