Can you make the SX40 take time exposure shots (1 second plus)?

If so, how?

Thanks...

If you set it to manual mode you can select up to 15 seconds exposure - If you want more that this you will have to 'hack' the firmware to CHDK firmware.

Make sure your ISO is set to 100.

Does that all make sense?

Yes it does.... thanks!

Next question....

Is there such a thing as a remote trigger so the camera doesn't vibrate?

I'd have to check to see if it will take a standard wired trigger - However I would suggest that you could use the timer function. I know this camera has one, can't quite remember if it has a 2 second or 10 second timer but it has one of those. Set the drive to this and press the shutter and let it take - That way by the time the shutter opens you won't be touching it therefore you wont introduce any camera shake.

I have used that mode on most of my cameras over the time when I don't have my remote shutter release with me.

Good idea... I like it!
