Canon S3IS filters, Lens Adapter???

I just bought my Cannon S3IS from Butterfly Photo and it came today!!!! I'm so excited about this camera. After placing my order online the saleman from butterfly photo called me and suggested a fast memory card and the 3 pc filter kit to go with my camera. Since I had saved money ordering online, I ordered them. I can't seem to attach my filters to the camera. I've been trying to read some posts on the S3IS and see if I have to have a Lens adapter to use these. I'm surprised that the salesman didn't suggest one if he advised me to get the filters. I know I would need Lens adapter if using an
other lens, but confused on the filters. The salesman told me they would all 3 would attach to each other on the end of my camera & help protect my lens. Thanks for any help.

He said to attach ALL 3 filters?? You would normally only put one filter on your adapter at a time, unless I misunderstood what you wrote.

I have the S3 and I purchased my adapter from www.lensmateonline.com, very reputable company and recommended often on photography boards. Depending on what size filters you bought you would have to buy the right size adapter. If I recall the options are 52mm and 58mm. I bought the 52mm and 52mm filters for mine because I wanted the smaller adapter.

Since I am new to anything more than a Kodak easy share I wasn't sure what the filters were for other than to protect the lens. When the salesman explain them he told me they would all 3 thread into each other. I am ok with them having to be used 1 at a time. I was just confused with what he told me. Thanks for your help. I guess I will be ordering the adapter today so I can use my filters.

Can you tell us what type of filters they are? For example, UV, polarizing, neutral density, etc. That would let us help you use them for the right situations.

The filters are UV, PL, And ND4 Hi Resolution optical glass. They say they are Ultraviolet, Fluorescent, and Polarizer. I just ordered the adapter from lensmate along with the cap. I hope I will be able to put this all together and learn when and how to use them. Thanks for your help!!

The UV is clear glass for protection. The neutral density makes things darker when the situation is too bright. A ND4 should slow things down by 2 f-stops. A polarizing filter does the same thing as polarizing sunglasses.
