LPZ - question - I saw you posted about the hack on my thread - I looked over the link you posted - so this is totally and completely safe?? No funky virus that will disable or something that may cause some other irreversable problem with the camera?? I'm very interested in it, but color me paranoid.
Nothing is *totally and completely safe* ... not even the camera straight out of the box!
If I had to guess, there are hundreds -- if not thousands! -- of Canon Powershot camera owners using the CHDK "hack". It's one of the #1 subjects on *every* Canon camera forum I participate in. And, no one is having any permanent problems (lots of technical glitches, for sure, but no permanent damage!). With such a *huge* user-base, if there was anything funky going on, we'd hear about it!
"Hack" and "hacker" automatically have negative connotations (and, in many cases, it's deserved!), but these guys are definitely the good ones!

The technical expertise demonstrated by these programmers is astonishing -- and I'm a computer programmer by trade!
The most important thing to understand is that CHDK is doing *nothing* to the actual firmware of the camera ... it's just adding a program that the camera is capable of running. After all, a digital camera is just a specialized computer....
Turn off your camera and CHDK is GONE! And, there's absolutely NO evidence it was ever there (unless, of course, you leave it on a card you leave in the camera

)
You *can* do damage to your camera by writing a script that's 'extreme' in nature; but you could do the very same damage by pushing the buttons ... that's all a script can do, mimic button presses!
