now i need help!! when looking online, i see that a lot of places offer the extended warranty for accidental damage and such. do you all purchase that stuff? i'm not usually one to spend the extra on added on warranties, but this is a pretty big investment...

I'm going to put an "all-risk" floater on my homeowners insurance for my new DSLR. Your rates may vary, but the accidental damage policies offered by stores are a total ripoff in comparison.

NO! I don't either. I bought one form Best Buy awhile back for something else, and everytime I had a problem it conveniently didn't cover it. My Aunt bought an IPOD for my son this winter and then it broke, again, it didn't cover it and we ended up buying a new one with not one penny covered. I know not all are the same, and Best Buy is actually known for this, but it has turned me off of protection plans since then. From anywhere!! And your camera should be under warrnety for the first year anyways.

I know this isnt the most interesting or best picture but i was practicing with a couple of different ways of shooting at sunset and just after from a window in my house and i really like the color of the sky and the way the clouds were situated

that 3rd shot is awesome!! Love the little stamens - they look like little cobras reared up coming out of the center(I DO NOT like snakes so I'm not sure why I thought that!) - very cool and the color is very intense! I also like that you can see the detail in the pollen! NICE!!

I went outside to take some photos today....and my batteries FINALLY died!!! Good thing. Now I'm charging them up for a nice long weekend of summer activities & fireworks.

I bought a waterproof bag to put my S3 in while jetskiing & boating. Its by Aquapac. The large camera bag is the one that it fits in. Also, its supposed to float if dropped in the water. And 100% waterproof to 15 ft submersed. I really don't want to try it to test it. It will also protect from sand at the beach. (I bought another different size bag for our GPS & other valuables.) http://www.aquapac.net/usstore/erol.html#1X0 I ordered it LATE Wed pm & it was delivered today (Friday). Very fast!!! I did read one review somewhere that said the little off button was a bit hard to reach once in the bag, but other functions were still easy enough to use. We are hopefully going jetskiing this weekend if its warm enough. So I can test it out.

Our town cancelled the fireworks for this year. No money. I really wanted to give the S2 a try with fireworks. I will have to seek out other towns, but the traffic may not be worth it.

Can I play? I have an S2, not the S3, but I think most of the features are about the same. These are a few I took in the super macro mode. I don't have a ton of luck with the regular macro mode - I think it's a distance issue! The only PP was a bit of cropping. In the wild daisy shots you can see just how dry our grass is. I felt sort of sad for them, growing all alone out there in this very brown yard! The shot of the pinks was taken earlier this spring when we were still getting rain!

I was playing with the color selection and shot this in the "vivid" selection

I love these little rose moss flowers, they remind me of my grandma And yes, they are that orange! (these were not on vivid)

Definitely go find some!! Falmouth? Hyannis? Off cape?

quick S3 question -

I was taking some pictures today, in sports mode. I could hear the camera focusing. It took pictures just fine, but I've never noticed that sound before. It wasn't loud, it didn't sound unusual, it was just focusing, if that makes sense. Problem or nothing to worry about?

We are looking into Marion, Ma or Plymouth. Those are closer. Falmouth has some nice ones too I've heard. Don't know much about the Dennis area. Been there a few times in passing, but unfamiliar with the beaches, etc. I didn't realize you were so close though!

I just bought my S3 IS. I not only got it on sale but since the box was a bit damage and it was the last one in the store, I got it for 10% off in top of the sale price .
I am so happy. I can't wait to start playing with it...

I was in north central Kentucky last night - and I was so excited to see such a bright moon, and when we got out of the car and I had my camera ready, I saw the clouds. LOL. It was a bizarre sky, for sure.
