My print looks great from 2 feet away. Not so great at 6 inches.

Ha ha!!! Nothing would good to me at 6 inches away. It would be all blurry. I've got those "over 40 eyes"!!!!

Wow! I found that setting on my camera. I have a 2GB memory card, and with the camera at the highest resolution, it says it can hold 730 shots.

That's about 4 or 5 days at WDW!

I would highly recommend a second memory card as a backup just in case something unexpected happens to your 2GB card. Staples has the SanDisk 1GB on sale right now for $19.98 with coupon code applied. Here's the link and I'm assuming you can get that price in the store also but if you sign up for Staples Rewards (free) you get free delivery...

Yes, I fully intend to get at least one more memory card, maybe 2. With my old Canon A70, I had 3 512MB cards; I think our trip to the Grand Canyon is the only time I filled one of the cards. I usually put about 2 days' worth of pix on a card and then switch out to another card. That way if I lose a card or it malfunctions or something, I won't lose all my pictures.

I only got the 2GB because it was on sale and cheaper than the 1GB.

I played around with Foliage scene mode today. :teeth: LOVING it!! I narrowed done to JUST 6 to show you all. lol

Foliage scene mode 10/10/06 (sorry about link...I'm doing SOMETHING wrong)

I love your autumnal photos, really stunning.

I have been looking into getting this camera as it is so popular on these boards.I am an amateur photographer with minimal knowledge. Can you tell me if this is an easy camera to use?I currently have a sony cybershot which is pretty much point and click, but i am just dying to upgrade before the next trip.

Any advise will be appreciated.

Today DH, DS, DS's GF, and I went to the zoo. Boy, talk about great weather!!!! I just bought my camera less than 1 week ago and wanted to test it out. I am very satisfied with the camera. Great pics and easy to use, what more could you ask for!!!!! I would love you guys to critique the pics. I have done no editing or touchups. Pics are straight from the camera. A few I used the digital zoom, and the cheetah face actually has part of the fence in the foreground. Anyways, I hope that you will enjoy them!

Sharon, they are great photos. :thumbsup2 I'm certainly no expert, but I really liked them. I love the seals and gorillas - my favourites! I'm thinking of getting and S3 after reading reviews of it here. Do you find it easy to use?
Thanks for posting.

I find it very easy to use. No problems so far. The manual has ALOT to read, but you can take pics without all the reading. I am slowly working my way through it though. The only problem, if that is what you want to call it, is when I take a vertical pic, twice I have hit the menu button. I guess that's where my finger normally rests. All I have to do is hit the button again and it is ready to go. Vertually no shutter lag, none at all compared to my last digital camera. I honestly say that I am really enjoying this camera.

Wonderful pix! I did some browsing earlier today and found that Dell has the S3 for -- brace yourself -- $319. Free shipping, no tax.

That just may be too good to resist. Especially after seeing your pictures :thumbsup2

Great photos. I love photographing seals/sea lions. I could spend all day there at Sea World.

The Canon S3 (well in my case the S2) is a fabulous camera in my novice opinion!

I love National Zoo.

What part of PA are you from WDWMOM2?

Great photos! I especially love the seal close-up. Such a sweet face. :)

I'm from southcentral PA, about 1 hr and 15 min from Washington DC.

WONDERFUL pictures!!! Thank you so much for sharing them with us! I love the ones of the seals!!

Great pics! I bought the same camera about a month ago. STILL trying to figure out what all the buttons do. The manual is no easy read. I'm thinking about signing up for an instructional class about the camera.

These are fantastic! I have decided to get this camera after reading these boards.Do you find the optical zoom easy to use-sorry if this is a lame question but that is the main reason for me going for this camera. It needs to be easy for me to use!!

You can zoom in and zoom out at the touch of a button, literally! Very easy to use.

Great pix, Sharon! :thumbsup2 I got my S3 the end of the September, and I'm really enjoying it. So far, most of my pictures have been of my DSs' marching band competitions, not exactly the best conditions for taking pictures - nighttime, with stadium lights. The zoom is great for the band pictures, but you can see some graininess at full zoom (I use the sports mode with no flash under stadium lights at full zoom). I can't wait to have some free time to go out and just shoot "normal" pictures!

Sometimes you just need to experiment and see what works in different types of settings. I have the S2 - basically the same camera, and I have some basics notes that I have to help me remember things, but other than that I practice using different settings in different settings - I take my camera everywhere!
