Loveyour moon shot with the S2!!! Next full moon I want to take my S3 out and try this!!!
I would give it a try now when the moon is not full. You may find that full moon is a bit too bright to get good details. Mess around in shutter priority mode when taking the shots. I got decent photos from about 1/600 up to 1/2000 with it. I took about 10 photos at each setting. Below 1/600 seemed to be washed out in the middle of the moon but nicer on the edges with the craters. Also, a tripod is a must have for this shot.

The focus isn't the problem with the A85 photo, it's too much light coming in. If it was less overexposed, you should get similar results to the S3 photo, just smaller.
The moon is fairly bright, too, and doesn't really test low-light ability. You really need something darker and preferably colorful.
I thought that the results would be similar, but the original picture from the A85 was at 1/8 sec and the one below is at 1/200 sec. The results are just as bad but darker.

I have to find some real good low light situations to really test the two cameras, but I think that the S2 would only do slightly better, overall.

I think that 'other' moon shot was mine... Here is a daytime moonshot with a S2 (at 12x -- I NEVER use the digital zoom!)
(just More proof that you can be VERY happy with a S2 or S3)

I am no longer able to access the CanonS3IS website... is anyone else having that problem???![]()
They get good reviews. I do not have it. It will not fit (folded) into my wife's camera bag. But if it fits in yours and for $10, why not? It's smaller than the manual.garris...do you have the cheat sheet? Is it worth the $10?
