What do you think of this camera. I can get it on ebay for about 1500 with a lot of extras like 18-55mm lens, 75-300mm lens, wide angle lens and a 1 gig card with other misc stuff.

I would like to take sports pictures with the micro burst feature and I can't determine if it would be good for fireworks. I am assuming that for the price it should be a good camera for anything but really have no clue.

What do you think. I like to buy new.

Thanks

It's a great camera. See the dpreview review .

You'd be better off purchasing at B&H rather than one of those kits. You'll end up spending a couple hundred more for junk accessories that you'll never use. The "High Resolution Wide Angle Lens" with a MSRP of $399 is a joke. You can guarantee that the tripod will be so flimsy it won't hold the 20D with the 75-300 lens still.

You can get the 20D with 18-55 lens, the same canon 75-300 lens, and a 1Gig CF card for $1,390.70 from B&H, including shipping. If there's a problem with anything, you know you can return/exchange it.

Just my $.02.

Awesome info. Thanks a million. I know there had to be a site out there that I could not find. Thanks

That is a great camera. I don't know about that specific package though. Check around to compare prices (amazon, ritz camera and a few others). If you set the settings correctly and have a tripod and a good eye for photography then it will take great pictures (fireworks, sports, portraits, candids, landscape or what ever else).

If you've never used a SLR in the past, then there will be a learning period. You can use SLR's as just point & shoot with the P (program), AUTO or any of the presets (landscape, sports, slow-mo, etc). But also take some time to learn about exposure (shutter priority, aperture priority and full manual). It will open up a whole new world for you.

Also check out the 30D. It is the newest Canon SLR, set to upgrade from the 20D. Other Canon users here will be able give more information.

I have a manual Richo 35mm SLR which I like because it is a good learning camera that has taken some great pics. I think that I just want to move into the "real world" with auto focus and all the fixins'. :yay: I also have a Kodak digital 3.1 mp point and shoot deal which is also good but takes too long and will be a good "pocket" camera if I do pull the trigger on this. Thanks again
