I’m looking through past posts and I’m not finding much exciting information about what to do in Cannes. We will be on the June 9 Med cruise next summer and I’m starting to think about what our group (2 Grandparents, me, and my 6 year old daughter) can do there.

It feels like we’ve got too many choices in Italy and not enough in France.

We thought our excursion stop in Eze was great. We did Monte Carlo, Monaco, and Eze. Monaco was so so and we didn’t enjoy Monte Carlo at all (kids obviously can’t go into the casino at all and that was kinda the focus of that stop). Afterwards we said we wished we could have done an excursion to just Eze and spent the rest of the time walking the beach in Nice.

Were on the same cruise a year ago and that port was so rough (tendering required) that the small boats could not come out to get us. The captain declared an "at sea" day and we cruised on to Marseilles, where we stopped the next day. Just a "heads up!"

What did you like specifically about Eze? What did you do there?

I didn't go because I just explored Nice when I was on a cruise that anchored at Villefranche, but I strongly considered going to the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco (affiliated with Jacques Cousteau). I read amazing things about it, and it looked like a good one.

That sounds very interesting. How were you going to get there? Train?

Either that, or they had a "Cannes on your own" excursion I think where basically they had the transportation to and from and you have free time to explore.

It’s a medieval village that has been preserved remarkably well. People continue to live there so it isn’t a museum but a modern community that hung on to fantastic architecture. We walked around the alleys and streets, saw the view of the Med (best view on our entire Med trip -Eze is at the top of a hill), and went to the gardens. They have some of the best botanical gardens in Europe. The whole area was calm and almost serene which was very different from the rest of the packed tourist spots.

This was our tender port this past September. The cruise was so port intensive that we just decided to hit the beach and relax. Grabbed some towels and just let the kids play in the sand.
