Canned whipped Cream

I noticed that the whipped Cream I bought Hood and Redi Whip say sweetened and they have corn syrup in them. Is this what everyone eats? Is it allowed on Atkins? I usually whip up heavy cream with no sugar at all. It doesn't taste like much but it's pretty.
My carbolite bars just came UPS from Walgreens, so it looks like I won't be so tempted to cheat afterall!
 
Whip your own using heavy cream and some splenda for sweetner. The Redi Whip does have sugar and although it indicates a relatively low carb count... it is for a TINY portion. One level TBS which is NOTHING to what most people put on stuff.

I know, I just read the can and mine has sugar :( That will run up my husbands sugar. I suppose I will have to give this to my mother and stick with the whipped heavy cream.
 
I didn't read it in the store and I tried the chocolate, I knew it was too good to be true.

I think that the important thing here is the low carb-count. I use this probably every other night (and not in moderation), and I have seen my results continue in spite of it having sugar. The carbs are what matter most on Atkins.

Corn syrup is one of the no-no's if you're following Atkins "by the book".

Natural sugars are OK (i.e., lactose in cream). ADDED sugars are NOT.

Carbs are important, yes, but it's SUGAR carbs we're looking to avoid.

If Redi-Whip works for you, more power to you, but it's NOT recommended, and it's not good for you.

You can either whip up your own whipped cream with a little Splenda and vanilla to taste, or use a little DaVinci syrup to sweeten it (no more than 2 Tbs. syrup per cup of whipping cream, or it won't whip).

You can also buy a canister that uses CO2 cartridges to make your own canned whipped cream... ISI makes a good one, and you can buy it in a half pint or pint size. You add your own sweetner, and can make any flavor whipped cream, or mousse, or whatever, you want... no sugar, and all the fun & convenience of Redi-Whip. Here's info on the ISI Cream Whipper... you can find them on eBay for sale, in cooking stores, and on the web. They're really a nice little gadget! Check out their recipes, as well. You can use it to make appetizers, hors d'oeuvres, desserts...
 
I also use it in 'moderation' about every other day. Mostly to top off some sugar free Jello. It has yet to throw me out of ketosis.

It's easy and the weight seems to be coming off so, with my busy life, I think I'll stick with it for now. :)
 
I'm glad you can eat this John and Kelsie. My dh is diabetic though. I put a couple of tablespoons on his strawberries the other night and his blood sugar went very high :( He made me give it away to my mother.

He is afraid that if he has any real sugar or corn syrup at all that his addiction will return. He's not willing to risk it. It's great that it works well for others, though.
 
So, does this mean we can or cannot try it?? :):) I would love to have even just a small spray! LOL
 
Go ahead a try it Bean. That's the only way to know for sure if you can tolerate it or not.
 
Okay, so I am curious now...do you just spray it on a tbsp or what? How do you measure it out?? LOL
 
I use it in moderation and don't seem to have problem.

I also love my homemade whipped cream with splenda! YUM!! Its so good with splenda the rest of the non-dieting family likes it too!

Be sure to use the little packets of Splenda and not the "measurable" kind - it has finer granuales and won't make the whipped cream chunky.
