I Bought A 6 Lb Can Of Delmonte Canned Whole New Potatoes At Sam's Club. Not Really Sure What I Can Make With These. Looking For Suggestoins, Recipes. I Never Used Canned Potatoes Before. Any Recipes Or Ideas Will Be Appreciated Thanks

I bought a couple of cans myself for the first time. I love them! I can heat & mash them up into mashed potatoes or small chunks like baked potatoes instantly, without all the baking time. No more instant mashed potato flakes for me. I love these. :thumbsup2

I have a great way to cook these!

1 envelope Lipton Savory Herb with garlic recipe soup mix
2 lbs ( 2 cans) all-purpose potatoes,cut into chunks
1/3 cup olive oil

preheat oven to 450 degrees. In a large ziploc bag,add all ingredients.Close bag and shake until potatoes are evenly coated.Empty potatoes into a 13x9-inch baking or roasting pan. Bake, stirring occasionally,40 minutes or until potatoes are tender and golden brown. Makes 8 servings.

mmmmmh,good!!

I cut them up and use them in stew I make in the crock pot. They also make good hash browns if you slice them up.

Crissi

I always used canned potatoes in potato salad. They hold up much better.

My mom used to buy these when I was a kid b/c they wouldn't go bad like regular potatoes.

Separate them into smaller portions (in a zip top bag) and freeze them then you can just take them out when you are read to use them.

They are fully cooked and can be used like any other canned veggie. The best thing my mom made with them were roasted potatoes. She'd dry them off and put a little butter (back then, olive oil wasn't as popular) and salt/pepper and roast them in the oven on about 350 for about 20 minutes or so. They are nice and soft in the middle and crispy on the outside. You can do homefries for breakfast too.

They don't make good mashed potatoes though. IMO.

Another way to cook them is to grill them, like a kebob. You can drain/dry them and marinade them and put them on skewers and grill them. You can pretty much marinade them in anything, but make sure they are dry before you put them in the marinade or the wetness will not allow the marinade to flavor them.

Hope this gets your creativeness flowing.

I warm up 1 can of whole potatoes and 1 can of green beans. I slice up smoked sausage and pan fry it to warm it up and get it brown. Then I drain the potatoes and beans and mix in the sausage with it. Its a quick, cheap meal!

I have used them when I make beef stew if im pressed for time. Honestly though, I taste no difference at all when I do it that way.

Here's my favorite way to make them: saute a large onion in a liberal amount of butter in a large pot. Add the potatoes and sprinkle to cover with Lowry's Season Salt. Heat until potatoes are warmed through. It's not fancy and not healthy but easy and yummy!

Dice them and make pot pies with some soup, meat and veggie filling and a bisquick topping. YUM

I fry them in butter, with parsley flakes, garlic, salt and pepper. My kids love them, as well as company. I usually buy two big cans of them during the holidays. I also make them when I take my Girl Scouts camping, they love them as well!!

I use canned potatoes for home fries (at least that's what my family calls them). I slice them and cook them in a pan with butter and an onion until they're crispy and golden.

I also use canned potatoes for potato stroganoff. I mix a can of cream of mushroom soup and some sour cream in a casserole dish. Then I dice up some round steak, cook it with a tiny bit of oil and a beef boullion cube, add it to the casserole dish, then slice the canned potatoes and add them to the casserole dish. Then I bake it at 350 for about a half an hour. It's my husband's favorite meal.

I love using the canned potatoes cooked on skewers on the grill. If I'm marinating any veggies I throw the potatoes in the marinade also. Yum!

I do them roasted like another poster. Drain, put them in a ziploc and toss with olive oil and spices. The spices I like are pretty much paprika, pepper, mrs dash and salt if needed.

Bake in a high oven till crispy.

I love the other ideas here. Thanks!

At many of our Girl Scout camping trips we used canned potatoes to make soup. It was basically "friendship soup" where each child brought in something to add to it. I think there are recipes floating around online, too.

Thanks For All The Canned Potatoe Ideas. Looking Forward To Actually Using Them In Recipes, Never Thought To Make Potatoe Salad With Them, Beats Pealing All The Fresh Potatoes.

My favorite way is to slice and drain the potatoes and toss them with Italian dressing. Pan fry until the potatoes start to get brown.

Sometimes I just slice them and pan fry them with butter until they get golden.

I just thought about buying a few cans of potatoes the other day. Haven't had any in the cabinets in years.
My mom used to sprinkle them with dried onions, then add a jar of gravy and another of whole mushrooms and serve as a side when she broiled steaks. Super quick and easy meal on a work night.
Hmmm, now I want steak & potatoes. I can justify this somehow, a midnight snack perhaps, breakfast maybe? Well, I guess I know what we're having for dinner tomorrow now...
