Does anyone have any info on candy canes this year? When will they be in the park? Best strategy to try and get one?

I have not seen any information in this yet. But am very interested in this information as well.

Every year I tell myself that I'm not getting a candy cane. Yet every year I seem to end up buying one, LOL! There's just something about the thrill of the chase, I guess, although the last time I wasn't even trying. We just happened to be walking down Main St in the morning and a CM in front of the shop asked us if we wanted to join the virtual queue for them. My sister and I looked at each other, grinned, and said YES! It was so easy as there was only one other person in line, and all I had to do was give them my cell number. We were so excited to get the text ;later in the day that we'd scored candy canes. But as usual, we used them as props for our Christmas pics and gave them away to family members when we got home as we don't like eating them :D This year I'm going to try not to buy one ha ha.

Shoot! I walked into the parks today and meant to ask for you, but I forgot. I'll be there next weekend and will try to remember to ask.

For what it is worth, last year they didn't start selling them until December.

Is the mobile wait list something you do on the app or do you have to see someone at the candy store? I've heard both, so I want to be prepared.

I can't remember the exact timing. I think maybe they started taking orders/contact info around 8 am. I have a picture of us picking up our candy canes at 9:30 am.
Thankfully there should be a week before my trip to for others to report back, exactly what they are doing this year.

This sounds super cool. Do we even get to watch them make them? (only our 3rd trip to DL in the last 10 years - there is nothing like this at WDW as far as I know.)

Yes!! It's really fascinating, too. I'm not sure where you find out the times they make them, but I suppose it's the same mornings they have the line to sign in to get one.

Thank you.

One other question. Do you line up at Rope Drop?
When we went last year, we weren't even trying for candy canes. We happened to walk past where you sign up (give your phone number) and there were only a few people in line at that time. It was at least a 1/2 hour past rope drop, probably more.

Good to know. I plan to rope drop and this is on my list of things. Mom on the other hand might not be so easy to motivate to get there at rope drop.

LOL! My sister is difficult to get moving as well. First, it takes quite a bit of time for her to shower, dress, and put on makeup. I kept telling her not to worry about perfect makeup but that was a deal-breaker for her. She will not leave the room without spending considerable time on every layer and nuance of her routine. Now I just let her do her thing and I mobile order and go pick up our Starbucks coffees (we stay at GCH). Then she has to have her outfit laid out with specific jewelry and accessories which sometimes need to be reconfigured when she has it on and decides her shoes are the wrong fit for the overall look or these earrings would look better than those. I want to point out that no one is paying attention to what a couple of old ladies are wearing as long as they're clothed, but that's not how she rolls. To be fair, she always looks stunning whereas I tend to blend in with the scenery, and that's generally fine with me. Anyway, rope drop is not something we generally manage to accomplish, even though we both wake up really early, LOL! I just wander around the hotel or play on my phone while she does her thing.

But it always works out! We've never had a bad time on our annual Christmas trip. We always find something new to try and we're not worried about riding as much as we can. We're more about the overall atmosphere and experiences.

You aren't missing anything. It's just a giant candy cane that tastes like any other candy cane. We got them once and I was just like meh. LOL

It was more the idea of getting a giant Disneyland candy cane than anything. I probably wouldn't have even eaten it.
Quite true. They are magnificent and it's very, very interesting to watch the whole candy-cane-making process. I LOVE that Disney does this.

However, as cool as they are and completely hand-made, they don't really taste any different to me and how in the heck do you eat a whole one?? They do make for a good photo op if you have 2--you can put them together to make a heart :D
