Reviving this thread to ask if anyone knows the current process to purchase a candy cane. For example, do they have a virtual queue where you get in line, scan a code, then come back later? Or does everyone stand around in line to get a special ticket/voucher to redeem later for a candy cane?
They did wristbands last week; in DL, the rope drop folks were lined up in Gibson Girl to keep them off fhe sidewalks. While this doesn’t happen every time, the wristbands were available until approx 1100, I skipped the initial lineup, went back to watch them make a batch around 0945 or so and was surprised they still had wristbands. The bands give you a hour window to pickup, ie mine was 10-11, the last timeslot was 12-1. Those who were first in line had an earlier time. There are CMs with giant four-foot candy canes out front when wristbands are still available.
In CA, they are out in front of Trolley Treats on the sidewalk, CMs with same giant candy canes. Someone at DL mentioned the CA wristbands lasted until afternoon the day before.
The wristbands are put on pretty tight, not a lot of room so they cannot slide off and have to be cut off. The CMs are very clear the guest must be very careful with the wristband, as if it appears the wristband is damaged or has been removed, then it will not be honored so no candy cane.
Both kitchens have viewing windows to watch them being made, One batch was fully done before park opening; the second batch was being finished up at park opening, and the last batch was made starting late morning.
The candy cane dates coincided with early morning access for DL hotel guests but that did not seem to impact wristband availability as anyone can get in to the parks when the gates are opened.
