Hello Everyone!
This will be our Family's first time at Disneyland. We are going in July and trying to figure out where to stay. We are a family of 4 with two teens. A boy who it 17 and a girl who is 16. My son has Autism so finding a good close hotel with a good pool is very important to us. We have our choices narrrowed down to Candy Cane inn and Hyatt House. Does anyone have any experiences with these hotels and which one would you choose?

Hello!
We stayed in Candy Cane last summer and loved it enough that we are staying there again this June.

There are 3 of us, including our 20yo daughter. We had a standard room. It was very clean, comfy beds. Rooms are small though, so it might bother you more with 4. They do have a little larger rooms for about $10 more/night.

The CCI shuttle was great. It was always on time. We walked a few times as well.

I haven't stayed at the Hyatt but it looks nice as well.

I also like the Candy Cane, I had a preferred room there on my last trip and it was so big and spacious and I really like how the preferred room gets breakfast delivered to the room. I also like the hardwood floors since they just seem more clean that hotel carpets could possibly be.

BUT-since you mentioned the importance of a good pool...while I liked the pool and my son and niece and nephew played in it a lot and enjoyed it please be aware that it is small. A 17 year old boy may find it too small particularly with more than a handful of other kids in it. Also, I dont swim, I just watch and read from a shady spot and this is not so easy either since the whole are is pretty small and I kept getting splashed quite a bit by the kids jumping in and splashing so If you want a dry spot to sit at near by...well you might not stay perfectly dry.

We had a bad experience at the Candy Cane and vowed to never return. The CCI is an old motel that has rooms that have not been remodeled since the 1980s. The pool is small and nothing to brag about. The Hyatt house is a new modern hotel and the pool looks nicer and bigger.

We recently stayed at Candy Cane Inn and had a bad experience as well. The room was very dirty, dated, and small... we have two small children and felt the room was way too small for 4 of us. We ended up checking out of CCI after one night and heading to the Residence Inn across the street. I don't know much about the Hyatt House, but I'd think twice about staying at the Candy Cane Inn.

We have also stayed at candy cane inn with 3 adults in a deluxe room and found it dark, small and noisy. The environs are nice, shuttle mostly great and breakfasts ok, but I think you'd find rooms too small and poky.

We love CCI.....have always found it comfy and clean with great customer service......for us - 2 adults! With 2 adults and 2 teens I would find the rooms on the small side if you were to spend much time in them.....

I know you were looking at Candy Cane or Hyatt House but have you looked at Anaheim Plaza? They are on Harbor as well, they have great rooms - we stayed in a double queen room and put a roll away bed in it and still had plenty of room to move around and not trip over each other. I was even in a wheelchair that trip and my chair was in the room as well with no problems. It is easy walking distance to the park and the pool area is huge - you can see the fireworks from the pool as well which is nice if you come back early and want to relax. We've stayed there a few times and not had any problems - our usual hotel in the area is Desert Palms but when they aren't available we go to Anaheim Plaza.
